Hey HN, JSS(JumpstartSignal) is a free, ESG-filtered daily stock screener. I built it after some really badly-timed quantum computing stock buys, so I felt I needed to learn more about systematic, longer-horizon approaches and the underlying technicals instead of chasing themes. Three things about it that might be of interest: 1. Methodology is fully documented at https://jumpstartsignal.com/how-it-works/ 5-stage pipeline, 54 signals tested individually plus 1,836 combinations evaluated, walk-forward validation across 25 hold periods. Nothing hand-tuned to a single…

Read the Tape gives players the same 5 S&P500 stock charts per day to predict. You select low, medium or high confidence and then call the chart UP or DOWN. It's a 1d chart which then resolves over 5 days. Alpha is scored against the Monkey Index, a basket of 11 random coin flips at low confidence which provides a tangible win/lose condition. We're two weeks in and some interesting data is being kicked up. Players like to call tops even though stonks go up- 60% of the 70 charts so far resolve higher, players' down calls have only been right 31% of the time. There's a full stats dive at…

Hi HN, We’re a small team working on 13Radar.com, which we launched about two weeks ago after 4 months of development. I’m the founder, and together with the team we’re building a platform that tracks hedge fund portfolios in real-time based on SEC Form 13F filings. AI has been a major helper in our workflow. For a single webpage, we often consult multiple AI systems in parallel, generating different versions and comparing them side by side before deciding on the final design or implementation. More than 60% of the research, design, and coding involved AI assistance. For UI design we used…

Hey HN! I've always been fascinated by financial markets. This month, I decided to build a tool to help with the research of stocks and cryptocurrencies. I'm using YFinance as a data source because it's free and provides a wide range of reliable market data. For sentiment analysis, I'm leveraging Google Trends to gauge public interest and sentiment over time. The tool, named Zenith, is a command-line utility with four main features: Market Analysis: Provides insights like moving averages, RSI, and volatility for selected stocks or cryptocurrencies. Sentiment Analysis: Uses Google Trends to…

I posted this a few weeks ago and the server died under the traffic. Fixed that by adding an in-mem caching layer with Redis/valkey and added CloudFront caching for static content. Also upgraded the server. Also fixed the Firefox bugs, trying again. It's a research tool for US stocks. Financials for ~10k companies pulled from SEC filings. You can chart any metric across companies, filter news by ticker, ask questions in plain English and get a chart back. There's also SQL console against the whole database, which is the part I like to use together with the AI chat (generates an SQL…

I built TradeSight (https://tradesight.live) as a lightweight market risk indicator that combines real-time data with AI insights. The backend is written in Rust, with a vanilla JS frontend for maximum performance. It aggregates data from multiple sources (FRED API, Yahoo Finance) and uses Claude's API to provide detailed market analysis. Technical stack: - No login required - static page with hourly updates - Rust backend for efficient data aggregation - Vanilla JavaScript frontend for minimal overhead - Claude API integration for real-time market analysis - Data sources: FRED…

How it works (tech stack): -Built entirely with Lovabl.dev (no-code front-end + logic) -ChatGPT / Claude for research and inspiration -Powered by GPT-4 Vision to interpret charts visually -Hosted on Supabase for performance & caching It’s not meant to replace analysts — just to speed up how traders interpret data. I’m a designer exploring AI tools, and this is my first attempt to turn an idea into a functional product. Would love to know what you think.

Hey HN, I'm Steve, co-founder of Factor.fyi, a new data platform for querying and visualizing financial datasets using SQL. During the pandemic, I took much more of an active role in managing my portfolio. I wanted to be able to make informed decisions about the investments I was making, and explore financial data in new ways. Market and Econ data are some of the most talked-about and widely-available datasets out there, but I was frustrated by the lack of options to answer questions I had, like, "What would have happened if I had started dollar-cost averaging VTI back in 2013?"[1] Or, "How…

Hi HN, A few weeks ago, we stealth launched SEC Insights on Product Hunt and were thrilled to reach the top 5! What is SEC Insights? It harnesses the Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities of LlamaIndex to provide answers about SEC 10-K & 10-Q documents. The enthusiastic reception we received on Product Hunt prompted us to open-source our project. Now, developers can use our project either as a reference or they can fork it entirely for their LLM-powered applications. We at LlamaIndex built this to help developers move their LLM app ideas from prototype to production. We're very…
