Hi HN! I built AI Baby Monitor – a tiny stack (Redis + vLLM + Streamlit) that watches a video stream and a YAML list of safety rules. If the model spots a rule being broken it plays beep sound, so you can quickly glance over and check on your baby. Why? When we bought a crib for our daughter, the first thing she tried was climbing over the rail :/ I got a bit paranoid about constantly watching her over, so I thought of a helper that can *actively* watch the baby, while parents could stay *semi-actively* alert. It’s meant to be an additional set of eyes, and *not* a replacement for the…

Hey there, First time posting on HN. We're looking for feedback from parents. We're 2 dads who started working on Dadditude in the midst of covid lockdowns last year. Being a dad can be a long, emotional, draining, and lonely journey. Through our research we learned that dads want to improve their parenting but are too shy to ask for help, and are tired of reading content online written for mums. It provides an integrated system for parents to download learning apps, assign them to multiple children according to skill, monitor child performance and get some good insights into how well your child is learning Kiddom strikes the right balance between entertainment and education, and helps parents and teachers…

Hi HN! Long time lurker, first time poster. I built something that I'm super proud of. I've been super fascinated by voice + AI since Siri and Alexa first launched. Sadly, both of those fell a bit short. With ChatGPT, it seemed like the promise of a fully interactive voice agent was a bit closer. So I built an app that lets kids talk to Santa. The most important part to me was making it feel like a real conversation with low latency. Powered by ChatGPT, Santa is fully interactive. He'll tell stories, answer questions about the North Pole, and even help parents land any message they need help…
