Kindle Comic Converter optimizes comics and manga for eink readers like Kindle, Kobo, ReMarkable, and more. Pages display in fullscreen without margins, with proper fixed layout support. Its main feature is various optional image processing steps to look good on eink screens, which have different requirements than normal LCD screens. It also does filesize optimization by downscaling to your specific device's screen resolution, which can improve performance on underpowered ereaders. Supported input formats include folders/CBZ/CBR/PDF of JPG/PNG files and more. Supported…

Hi HN, I'm Daniel Nguyen. In June, I quit my job to start indie hacking full-time. The idea of KTool first came to my mind when I was reading "Ask HN: I'm a software engineer going blind, how should I prepare?"[0] I've been wearing glasses since I was 5. My right eye is basically blind. Doctors said there is no chance to cure it. I was genuinely scared. Like holy shit, if my left eye stops working, my life is done. I run a lot, so every morning I check my recovery and decide whether to run or take a rest day. I wanted an always-on screen that would let me see everything at a glance. It’s now open source, including the full setup guide.

Most of the tools I tried felt heavy, tricky to set up, or produced results that didn’t look great, so I wanted something lightweight, modern, and fast. PlutoPrint is built on top of PlutoBook’s rendering engine, which is designed for paged media, and then wrapped with a Python API that makes it easy to turn HTML or XML into crisp PDFs and PNGs. I’ve used it for things like invoices, reports, tickets, and even snapshots, and it can also integrate with Matplotlib…
