Manipulating monetary amounts is a common computing chore. However, no mainstream language has a first-class data type for representing money, it’s up to programmers to code abstractions for it. This isn’t an issue per se until dealing with rounding issues from operations like installment payments (e.g., buy now, pay later), foreign exchange, or even simple things like fee processing and tax collection. Inspired by my days at N26 Brasil dealing with these challenges, I introduce Money: a Kotlin library that makes monetary calculations and allocations easy.

Hi HN! I've been working on the fuse programming language, it's a statically typed purely functional language with higher-kinder types and ad-hoc polymorphism. It compiles to the GRIN whole-program optimizer, producing LLVM-generated native code. Fuse supports ADTs, Generics, Type Methods, Traits, Pattern matching etc. all in a functional style with no mutations. I’ve been developing the language for 5 years, with code written in Scala. I’ve started coding the language from the base of System F that was implemented as part of the book: Types and Programming Languages (tapl). And then…

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a quick update we just launched at Kodus. For those who don’t know it yet, Kodus is a code review agent that runs directly in your team’s Git workflow (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket… and now Azure DevOps as well). It helps maintain code quality and consistency by analyzing each PR based on your team’s own rules and repository standards. Support for Azure had been a common request — so if your team uses it, you can now plug Kodus right into your workflow and give it a try. Docs: https://docs.kodus.io/how_to_use/en/overview Repo:…

You write a standard solution, just like on LeetCode, and run it through the CLI. It identifies the problem by ID or title, executes your code against local test cases, and shows the result. It currently supports around 1.4k problems and multiple languages, including Python, C++, Rust, Java, Go, TypeScript, Swift, and others. The project is still an MVP. System design, SQL, and concurrency problems are not supported yet, but support for more problem types is planned. Made in Haskell!

Hi HN! I'm Alex, a tech enthusiast. I'm excited to show you Jesth, a next-level human-readable data serialization format. This project started out as a markup language for writing the docstrings of functions that would ultimately be consumed by a documentation generator. Basically the idea was to split a docstring into sections like Description and Parameters. Each section would consist of a header in square brackets and a body (lines of text between two headers). Here's what a docstring for a sum function would look like: This function takes in two integers a and b and returns their sum.…

Backend APIs often grow into large orchestration classes full of duplicated calls and manual concurrency. I’ve been working on Mosaic, a Kotlin framework that composes responses out of small, request-scoped “tiles.” Each tile runs once per request, dependencies resolve automatically, and independent tiles execute in parallel without boilerplate. It’s still early (v0.2.0), but working today for caching, concurrency, and testability. Curious to hear feedback on the approach. Hey HN, I built KAppMaker, a Kotlin Multiplatform boilerplate that helps you launch iOS and Android apps quickly. I know the boilerplate space is pretty saturated, but after publishing two open-source Kotlin Multiplatform libraries (KMPNotifier and KMPAuth), and seeing how much manual work goes into app setup, I realized something had to change. Each time I started a new app, I spent at least 4-5 days just setting up basics like authentication, notifications, and in-app purchases—before even getting to the core feature. To speed up this process, I created KAppMaker, a boilerplate that…
