Devbox is a command-line tool that lets you easily create isolated shells and containers. You start by defining the list of packages required by your development environment, and devbox uses that definition to create an isolated environment just for your application. In practice, Devbox works similar to a package manager like yarn – except the packages it manages are at the operating-system level (the sort of thing you would normally install with brew or apt-get). hey guys. the other day i was migrating hosting providers and i just needed something not too heavy and convenient to spin up my backups for awhile and realised there is almost nothing out there. kimchi hasn't been updated for years and cockpit is heavy. so here's something i came up with in a couple hours because of a sudden urge, nothing fancy just basic creation with cloud init, lifecycle management and image/storage, but it's modern-ish and it compiles to a 8.4mb binary inclusive of the embedded web UI, CLI and API, and only dep is libvirt.

Hi HN! I've been working on Bor, an open-source system for centralized Linux desktop management. Bor consists of a lightweight Go agent and a central server. Policies are streamed to clients over mTLS/gRPC in real time—no polling—and currently support Firefox, Chrome, KDE, dconf, polkit and package management, with more coming. Version 0.8 introduces several new policy types - Thunderbird, Microsoft Edge for Business and FirewallD zones, along with a number of improvements and fixes. I'd love feedback on the architecture, policy model, and whether this is something you'd consider for…

Hey HN, This is Adrian and David, and we're excited (and nervous) to show you basetool (https://basetool.io). Basetool helps companies view and manage all their data in one place. Companies have data in tons of places like BI tools, data warehouses, 3rd party services, and their databases. However, because the tools are not connected, it's a hassle to have visibility across the whole organization and even more difficult to safely share that data with the team or external collaborators. The vision is to give basetool access to your data source and get a tool that way above a…

NodeTool is an open-source, no-code tool that lets you build and test AI workflows through a visual interface. Why NodeTool? We started building NodeTool 1.5 years ago to make working with AI more straightforward and accessible. Technical challenges like Python dependencies often slow down the process, so we designed a tool that simplifies the workflow and helps you focus on creating and experimenting. Key Features: - Visual Workflow Editor: Create AI workflows using a drag-and-drop interface, supporting text, images, audio, and video. - Seamless Integration: Combine local models…

Autotool is a native desktop app that helps you formalize and automate processes that give you trouble in terms of toil, difficulty remembering steps, or dealing with workflows someone else has created. The idea was inspired by the "Do-nothing scripting"[1] article published a few years ago. It's actually not an implementation of do-nothing scripting specifically, but enables that if that's what you want to do, and it's something I've been thinking about for a while. Right now this is definitely in very early beta, so currently it's only available for MacOS and Linux. Hopefully this version…
