We show the potential of modern, embedded graph databases in the browser by demonstrating a fully in-browser chatbot that can perform Graph RAG using Kuzu (the graph database we're building) and WebLLM, a popular in-browser inference engine for LLMs. The post retrieves from the graph via a Text-to-Cypher pipeline that translates a user question into a Cypher query, and the LLM uses the retrieved results to synthesize a response. As LLMs get better, and WebGPU and Wasm64 become more widely adopted, we expect to be able to do more and more in the browser in combination with LLMs, so a lot of…

G'day, HN! I'm one of the maintainers of `llm`. I've been working alongside a trusty group of contributors to bring this project to life, and we're now at a point where we're ready to share it with the world. Large language models (LLMs) are taking the computing world by storm due to their emergent abilities that allow them to perform a wide variety of tasks, including translation, summarization, code generation, and even some degree of reasoning. However, the ecosystem around LLMs is still in its infancy, and it can be difficult to get started with these models. `llm` is a one-stop shop for…

Hello HN! I was fed up switching between multiple UIs to ask GPT, Claude, etc… the same question and comparing the answers. So I built a way to ask multiple models the same question efficiently by having the LLM compare the responses and only show you new and valuable information from the 2nd model. This way you still get a fast response as normal from the 1st model, but also get any added value provided by the 2nd model. Initially I built my own UI to use this, but stumbled upon Open WebUI (formerly Ollama WebUI) which is fantastic, but is made more for local access to LLMs. So I talked to…

I recently built a small open-source tool to benchmark different LLM API endpoints — including OpenAI, Claude, and self-hosted models (like llama.cpp). It runs a configurable number of test requests and reports two key metrics: • First-token latency (ms): How long it takes for the first token to appear • Output speed (tokens/sec): Overall output fluency Demo: https://llmapitest.com/ Code: https://github.com/qjr87/llm-api-test The goal is to provide a simple, visual, and reproducible way to evaluate performance across different LLM providers, including…

Hi HN, I built this open-source LLM red teaming tool based on my experience scaling LLMs at a big co to millions of users... and seeing all the bad things people did. How it works: - Uses an unaligned model to create toxic inputs - Runs these inputs through your app using different techniques: raw, prompt injection, and a chain-of-thought jailbreak that tries to re-frame the request to trick the LLM. - Probes a bunch of other failure cases (e.g. will your customer support bot recommend a competitor? Does it think it can process a refund when it can't? Will it leak your user's address?) -…

I’ve been playing around with local LLMs for the past couple of months and decided to build something that can run on an iPhone. It’s a universal app built with SwiftUI and the excellent ggml library. The model is an SFT fine tuned and 4 bit quantised version of the RedPajama-INCITE-Chat-3B-v1 OSS LLM. It works reasonably well on recent-ish (~3 year old) iPhones, iPads and Macs. It was launched on the App Store yesterday[1] and Product Hunt today[2]. It seems to be reasonably ok at natural language interactions, but given its size, does pretty badly at coding and reasoning. Also, it…

I built a local-first UI that adds two reasoning architectures on top of small models like Qwen, Llama and Mistral: a sequential Thinking Pipeline (Plan → Execute → Critique) and a parallel Agent Council where multiple expert models debate in parallel and a Judge synthesizes the best answer. No API keys, zero .env setup — just pip install multimind. Benchmark on GSM8K shows measurable accuracy gains vs. single-model inference.

I used to play the Wikipedia Game in high school and had an idea for applying the same mechanic of clicking from concept to concept to LLMs. Will post another version that runs with an LLM entirely in the browser soon, but for now, please enjoy as long as my credits last... Warning: the LLM does not always cooperate
