Hey there! I just released the first version of a project I’ve been working on solves a very specific problem that perhaps only I have. I welcome any and all feedback, even if you just want to drop in to say that this is a hot piece of garbage!

I was constantly googling CLI commands so I built this small CLI tool with GPT3. You can ask for shell commands right from the CLI. You'd need to use your own API KEY for this but it's pretty simple, instructions are in the README Not perfect but not bad either.

Hi HN! I wanted to share Yakari, a tool I built to make command-line interfaces more approachable through interactive TUIs. If you've ever forgotten CLI flags or needed to look up command syntax, this might help. Yakari turns complex commands into interactive menus. Users can navigate through options with simple key presses instead of memorizing complex command structures. If you've used Emacs and Magit (or any other Transient) before, the interface will feel familiar. Features: - Transform CLIs into guided menus - Create custom menus for any CLI - Support for flags, named parameters,…

I needed to remote control a program (and read it’s output) while that tool should still be fully interactive for the user. Obviously there are things like tmux and more but they emulate an entire terminal. This is simpler in that it just sets up a pty and basic pipes or files to send stuff in and read from it.

This is my take on the common "use llms to generate shell commands" utility. Emphasis is placed on good CLI UX, simplicity, and flexibility. `llm2sh` supports multiple LLM providers and lets LLMs generate multi-command sequences to handle complex tasks. There is also limited support for commands requiring `sudo` and other basic input. I recommend using Groq llama3-70b for day-to-day use. The ultra-low latency is a game-changer - its near-instant responses helps `llm2sh` integrate seamlessly into day-to-day tasks without breaking you out of the 'zone'. For more advanced tasks, swapping to…

Early in April I needed to print some tax forms at the library, first time in forever, and I began to wonder: what's the easiest way to get a file onto a public computer? There are many ways, but most of them involve creating an account somewhere or plugging in a thumb-drive. I use a password manager, so my passwords are long and complicated, not easily typed. I don't want to plug anything into a public computer, nor do I fancy uploading my taxes to some random website. I thought about what a helpful product would looks like, and in about an hour I spun up the first version,…
