Hey HN, I find myself reaching for tools like it-tools.tech or other random sites every now and then during development or debugging. So, I built a toolkit with a sane and simple CLI interface for most of those tools. For the curious and lazy, at the moment, ut has tools for, - Encoding: base64 (encode, decode), url (encode, decode) - Hashing: md5, sha1, sha224, sha256, sha384, sha512 - Data Generation: uuid (v1, v3, v4, v5), token, lorem, random - Text Processing: case (lower, upper, camel, title, constant, header, sentence, snake), pretty-print, diff - Development Tools: calc, json…

Hi everyone, After four years, I'm finally open sourcing my little markup language that compiles directly to HTML, and has all the "modern" features built into the core, (reactive components, server side rendering, modules, bundling, etc.). No metaframework required! Feels like I really have something here, I'd love your feedback :)

eno [1] - A modern plaintext language w/ libraries [2] for JavaScript, Python, Ruby & soon more! We migrated a big relational research database to a file-based solution - requirements were: - Super fast and easy editability for users - Highest performance for parsing/validating >10K documents on every user change. Our trials with YAML/TOML showed us that we wanted something both faster [3][4] and easier [4], something tailored for file-based content management ... and after months of research & development it's now publicly available (under MIT license) for everyone! Last but…

I like writing Markdown, but do not like writing it inside a plain textarea. I wanted something I could use anywhere by dropping in a single web component: ``` ``` That became Writemark. It renders Markdown while you write, but Markdown remains the value you read, store, and submit. It also has source, split, and preview modes, along with slash commands, tables, task lists, code blocks, native form support, and an API for adding your own controls. There are no runtime dependencies and no required framework or built in toolbar. It is fully vibecoded. The process was very iterative. I knocked…

TYON (typed object notation) is my attempt to address the main frustrations I have with JSON. 1. Key repetition - you can specify the key names once at the start of a list or map, instead of on each object separately. 2. Escaping strings - everything in a string is literal except for " which is escaped as "". This makes writing regexes and multiline text easier without introducing a bunch of different string styles or excess escaping, which I am not a fan of. 3. While not nearly as important as the first two to me, I did reduce symbol clutter when possible. Files are implicitly maps, keys…
