Ever wanted to control Ableton with just your voice? Me too! I made this MCP server so I could just ask Codex to do anything in Ableton Live for me, while I was nap-trapped by my baby. The chat messages I sent to Codex to make this: in ableton, make a self reflective song, with audio vocals (via macos say) and chip tunes and 80's drum machines. should be a real edm banger i want midi for everything but vocals please, with ableton devices. not prerendered audio for instruments needs some fills and should hit way harder after "3-2-1 i become the sound" the vocals are squished too much (read…

About six months ago, I started working on a project to fine-tune Whisper locally on my M2 Ultra Mac Studio with a limited compute budget. I got into it. The problem I had at the time was I had 15,000 hours of audio data in Google Cloud Storage, and there was no way I could fit all the audio onto my local machine, so I built a system to stream data from my GCS to my machine during training. Gemma 3n came out, so I added that. Kinda went nuts, tbh. Then I put it on the shelf. When Gemma 4 came out a few days ago, I dusted it off, cleaned it up, broke out the Gemma part from the Whisper…

Hey HN! I just shipped a project I’ve been working on called Maroofy: https://maroofy.com You can search for any song, and it’ll use the song’s audio to find other similar-sounding music. Demo: https://twitter.com/subby_tech/status/1621293770779287554 How does it work? I’ve indexed ~120M+ songs from the iTunes catalog with a custom AI audio model that I built for understanding music. My model analyzes raw music audio as input and produces embedding vectors as output. I then store the embedding vectors for all songs into a vector database, and use semantic…

I recently got Ableton Move and was disappointed by how difficult it was to convert samples into Move-compatible drum racks, so I made a simple CLI tool for that. I hope others find it useful, and at some point, Ableton sees the need and provides us with a built-in solution.

I am excited to announce a new tool for music producers and audio enthusiasts - a music audio search engine. With just a simple description of the groove you're looking for, our semantic search engine will output the most similar audio in seconds. I used the Freesound.org API to upload over 3,000 grooves to MongoDB, and combined all the relevant data such as tags, title, description, BPM, etc. into OpenAI's Text-Davinci to generate a unique description of each sound. I then embedded these descriptions using the Ada Embeddings Model and inserted them into Pinecone DB vector database, making…

In 2020, Magenta released DDSP [1], a machine learning algorithm / python library which made it possible to generate good sounding instrument synthesizers from about 6-10 minutes of data. While working with DDSP for a project, we realised how it was actually quite hard to find 6-10 minute of clean recordings of monophonic instruments. In this project, we have combined the DDSP architecture with a domain adaptation technique from speech synthesis [2]. This domain adaptation technique works by pre-training our model on many different recordings from the Solos dataset [3] first and then…

Hey HN, I am creating megaDSP, a huge DAW plugin for all platforms, with the goal of it being a free, open-source, and semi or fully autonomous github project that evolves around community feedback. It currently has more than 50 audio effects that can be combined together in effects chains, and also supports "snapshots" where you can seamlessly switch between different effects chains (for live use, like a fancy guitar pedalboard for example). I would really love if you have a moment to test it out, give thoughts, etc. There are many, many plugins out there in the world, but many of them are…

YO, I’m Ryan, lead author. I’ve been contributing open source generative audio stuff for a while now, audio reactive Comfy nodes, extended ACEstep support in Comfy, etc.. I just opened-sourced a new audio project that I've been working on for a few months and I want to tell y'all about it. WHAT IS IS DEMON: Diffusion Engine for Musical Orchestrated Noise This is StreamDiffusion but with audio instead of images, and ACEStep 1.5 instead of Stable Diffusion. It’s responsive enough that you can play it like an instrument, and remix in near real-time. I also distilled the ACEStep VAE: it’s faster…
