Hey! Alexis and Tobi here. We built a native macOS client for ChatGPT API that is free to use (macOS Ventura). https://www.jamgpt.app/ We built and fine-tuned it to scratch our own specific text-processing itches, so we just wanted to share this with the community. If you work with a lot of text or code like we do, check it out. Its core features include: - Instantly talk to ChatGPT from anywhere on your Mac by pressing a keyboard shortcut. - Avoid typing out repetitive prompts by saving prompts and accessing them quickly. - Just download and start typing as you would with…

Hi HN! I wanted to share my freshly finished open-source project. It is similar to ChatGPT Code Interpreter, but the interpreter runs locally and it can use open-source models like Llama 2. It allows you to work with sensitive data without uploading it to the cloud. Either you use a local LLM (like Llama 2), or an API (like GPT-4). For the latter case, there is an approval mechanism in the UI, which separates your local data from the remote services. I would be very interested in your valuable feedback!

Code Index MCP is an MCP server that indexes codebases and provides search capabilities to LLMs. Supports 50+ file types with automatic indexing, regex/fuzzy search, code analysis, and real-time file monitoring. LLMs can search your entire project, find files with glob patterns, analyze code structure (functions, classes, imports), and get automatic updates when files change. Eliminates the need to manually copy files or explain project structure to overcome context limits. Built with Python using the Model Context Protocol. Uses pluggable search backends…

We built a no/low-code tool that lets you spin up MCPs from a single prompt. MCPs give LLMs access to tools, data, and actions—but they’re hard to build and deploy. Our tool abstracts that: describe what you want, and it auto-generates and hosts the necessary components. No UI flows, no manual chaining—just prompt and go. Examples: • Pull email, parse a DocSend, check Reddit, draft reply • Extract data from a niche site + send a Slack alert • Combine tools without writing glue code Live demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uCiaQrgfoE Built over a weekend after getting…

Hey HN, we’re launching OpenMemory (https://github.com/mem0ai/mem0/tree/main/openmemory), an open source tool that lets you run a personal, portable memory layer for LLMs. Fully self-hosted and under your control. It uses standard MCP protocol and plugs into any MCP client (like Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, etc.) over Server-Sent Events (SSE). https://mem0.ai/blog/how-to-make-your-clients-more-context-a... is a complete tutorial that shows how to set it up locally, the underlying components involved, complete overview of architecture and…

TLDR: Check out our documentation search here: https://xata.io/docs/overview Hello HN. I'm a designer over at Xata. We build a serverless database platform on top of Postgres and Elastic-like search that provides goodies like a native TypeScript client for type support in your IDE. Long story short, we're trying to bundle all the normal stuff you need out of a database along with branching, so you don't have to glue everything together. Today we added a new /ask/ endpoint to our search product that bundles in ChatGPT support into any stored data. Why would you…

Hi, everyone! Lately, I've been working on quite a few applications that require a database, and as a result, I need some data to test everything. It has always taken me a lot of time to ask ChatGPT to generate fake data for me, so I decided to create a tool for developers called FakeData. FakeData allows developers to generate fake data easily with a simple UI/UX and customizable fields. This data can be used in their applications to test various functionalities. P.S. The app is not yet finished, and I would love to hear your honest feedback on it. Please be brutally honest about what…

Open-source & web based MCP client. Chat with any MCP server in your own app. Powered by CopilotKit & Composio. Shipped this with cursor over the weekend and built: 1. The first web-based MCP client (deployed version on GH) 2. An open-source client you can add into any app. Built using CopilotKit for the client and interactivity layer + agent frontend which connects to a LangGraph ReAct agent that coordinates MCP calls. Uses Composio's MCP server.

I built TraceAIO, an open-source tool that prompts LLMs on your behalf and tells you whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini mention your brand — and which competitors and sources show up instead. Yeah, this category smells a bit like a grift, same as early SEO. And I think over time it will become just SEO again, and become about good content. The tool just helps you monitor over time. It queries the browser products through real browser sessions, not APIs, runs on Docker, with an MCP server so you can query your own data through an LLM. No business model, Apache 2.0, self hosted. If you…

I built this using semantic search and the ChatGPT API, which was just released the other day. What makes it special is it not only understands the code you're debugging, but also pulls in additional context like relevant documentation to help answer your questions and suggest code changes. Ultimately, my goal is to take the hassle out of pasting error messages into Google, finding a vaguely related StackOverflow post, and manually integrating the solution into your code.
