Originally started as a project to restore patterns from now defunct website 808.pixll.de just for myself, but eventually i decided to share it with others. I've seen this website mentioned a couple of times on HN:) Currently it only supports Roland TR-808, but there will be more.

After two years of development, I'm super excited to release Beat Maker! This is my take on what I hope is the best free, web-based drum machine. My goal was to build something that was not only fun and easy to use for beginners but also powerful enough for serious producers. I did extensive research on existing drum machines, analyzed their UX, and tried to build something that adds something new. It's a nearly 100% client-side app, written in ClojureScript, and is a PWA so you can install it to your home screen for an app-like experience. Besides the standard grid editor, Beat Maker has…

Hello all! I've been an avid fan of Pocket Operators by Teenage Engineering since I found out about them. I even own an EP-133 K.O. II today, which I love. A couple of months ago, Reddit user andiam03 shared a Google Sheet with some drum patterns [1]. I thought it was a very cool way to share and understand beats. During the weekend I coded a basic version of this app I am sharing today. I iterated over it in my free time, and yesterday I felt like I had a pretty good version to share with y'all. It's not meant to be a sequencer but rather a way to experiment with beats and basic sounds,…

Hi Hacker News, This is definitely out of my comfort zone. I just wanted to show you guys because I'm super proud of it. It's a 100% faithful recreation based off of the schematics, patents, and ROMs that were found online. So please watch the video and tell me what you think https://youtu.be/auOlZXI1VxA The reason why I think this is relevant is because I've been a programmer for 25 years and AI scares the shit out of me. I'm not a programmer anymore. I'm something else now. I don't know what it is but it's multi-disciplinary, and it doesn't involve writing code myself--for…

Hi HN! I'm Gabe, the creator of Songcraft (https://songcraft.io/home). I recently dove headfirst into songwriting, and I quickly grew frustrated with my process. I found songwriting difficult enough without having to wrangle a mess of different tools, and there's no great solution to build chord sheets and tabs (unless you love pure text input). So, I built Songcraft - an online songwriting platform and tab builder. The drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to jump from chords to lyrics to melodies. I added a chord progression generator and chord recommendation engine to ensure…

Hey HN! I made a website to share and discover the next big hits in music. It works like ProductHunt but for music instead of products: anyone can share their discoveries of new hits and support talented emerging artists. The result is a curation of the best new emerging music where you can find new hits daily to make your playlists shine. Demo: https://twitter.com/mattiapomelli/status/1607463004794392577 Hope you like it, would love to hear what you think :D

10 years ago I began working on Muki, a web-based MIDI and chiptune player which I eventually announced here on HN[0]. It was a fun weekend project. Over the years I received numerous requests from people that wanted more: more music, more features, more playable formats, you name it. Eventually I began working on a complete rewrite of the app (this time for real), and, realizing that each year another chiptune or MIDI website went offline, I decided to start archiving them for preservation. Today, 10 years after the first release, I think it's finally time for the new, nicer version to hit…

The HN community may find the context of the prompts, organized by each turn in each session, the most useful. See the website/docs/prompts.md and session-X.md files. I also started exploring some workflows for the LLM to execute, organized in the website/docs/tasks/ folder. I found it pretty handy to have the LLM document our work as we went and simply embedded the static site into the executable, along with all the music and logic. The whole project took me about a day for the backend. The C++ controller itself took only a few turns. I enjoyed focusing on my son's…

Hi, I'm co-founder and CTO of Kaizen. The project started as just a weekend project with me and a music producer friend. It has since grown into a community of artists looking to share their music more frequently and engage with their fans more consistently. We've just launched on ProductHunt: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/kaizen-3 We would love any thoughts or feedback!

I'm calling this "Vibe Discovery" — distinct from vibe coding because I didn't know the requirements upfront. Started with "make something with the accelerometer" and discovered through 6 iterations that I wanted a WebGL marble game. The interesting part was the dev setup: Claude Code running in Termux on a Redmi Note 9 (4GB RAM). The same-device feedback loop — code, test accelerometer, react, iterate — made rapid discovery possible in a way that laptop-to-phone deployment wouldn't.

I'm a musician by night, software developer by day, and one of the minor frustrations I've always had was trying to find a simple tuner app for my phone. Looking at both the iOS and Android app stores, you'll find a lot of the top tuner apps are rather bloated with ads or subscription callouts. I thought I'd create a dead-simple minimalistic mobile chromatic tuner the way I would like it - open the app and tune my guitar. My work is in web with NodeJS and React, so I chose React Native since it was the easiest to understand coming from React. Flutter was also an option since the company I…
