Right now it's a Nicotine patch for brain rot/doom scrolling. You still get the scroll, but with more meaningful content. Hey - I've been playing with LLMs since GPT-2 and recently experimented with fully generative UIs where the HTML/Canvas are generated just-in-time. Every post on the feed( on slop/duck/storytime) you see is streamed and generated just-in-time with HTML and into a Canvas with Gemini 3 Flash. Comments and DMs are bidirectionally linked with a Cloudflare Workers Durable Object which is why they feel so fast. I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Hi HN, WikTok is a UI for Wikipedia that lets you quickly swipe (or use your arrow keys) to navigate between random and recommended articles (based on the previous articles you interacted most with). Hello! I built a web-app called JungleReader that lets you follow RSS, Mastodon, YouTube, Reddit, and random blogs, all in one place. I made JungleReader as a central place to follow the blogs and sites I like, which I otherwise often lose track of. My next project (which is WIP) is a web-app called JungleWriter where you can build a simple blog and export it for hosting. I stopped using Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok etc long back for various reasons. But that left me wanting a simple feed of interesting content because I think that really has some value. So I built one for myself using public APIs and free datasets. I have been using it for couple years now. Thought I should share it wth HN, because why not. Here’s how it works: every few minutes, a cron job fetches content from various APIs and datasets and populates a database table ‘cards’. When you open feedium.app, you are shown some cards from that table chosen randomly. That’s it. :)
