Hey HN, I made Browser-Use, an open-source tool that lets (all Langchain supported) LLMs execute tasks directly in the browser just with function calling. It allows you to build agents that interact with web elements using natural language prompts. We created a layer that simplifies website interaction for LLMs by extracting xPaths and interactive elements like buttons and input fields (and other fancy things). This enables you to design custom web automation and scraping functions without manual inspection through DevTools. Hasn't this been done a lot of times? Good question, as a general…

Hi everyone, we’re a small team, supported by Mozilla, who are working on re-imagining a UI for training, tuning and testing local LLMs. Everything is open source. If you’ve been training your own LLMs or have always wanted to, we’d love for you to play with the tool and give feedback on what the future development experience for LLM engineering could look like.

A simple mobile web app inspired by Fuzzy-Search/realtime-bakllava that uses llama.cpp server backend with multimodal mode to describe and narrate what the phone camera sees. I built this thing in a few hours using a single ChatGPT thread to generate most things for me and iterate on this project. This lets you talk to local LLMs in Apple Notes. I saw Obsidian Ollama (https://github.com/hinterdupfinger/obsidian-ollama) and thought it was handy, but I'm too lazy to migrate away from the Apple ecosystem, so I quickly hacked this together. I tend to use Notes as a scratchpad for prompts, so it's nice to do some quick inference without leaving the app. Notes doesn't really support plugins so I'm using the macOS accessibility API for reading selections and then stream responses using the clipboard (not ideal but it works).

G'day, HN! I'm one of the maintainers of `llm`. I've been working alongside a trusty group of contributors to bring this project to life, and we're now at a point where we're ready to share it with the world. Large language models (LLMs) are taking the computing world by storm due to their emergent abilities that allow them to perform a wide variety of tasks, including translation, summarization, code generation, and even some degree of reasoning. However, the ecosystem around LLMs is still in its infancy, and it can be difficult to get started with these models. `llm` is a one-stop shop for…

Hello HN, I've been working on this project for a while, and it has been in an "open" beta for some time. I finally believe it's ready for its first release. I hope you like it. Here are some potential questions that may arise: 1. How does it compare to LM Studio? It's likely that if you're already using LM Studio, you'll continue to do so. This project is designed to be more user-friendly. 2. Is it open-source? No, it is not. 3. Does it use any open-source libraries? Yes, it uses llama.cpp and a few others, as indicated in the license information included with the application. 4. Why is not…

Hi HN, we're Ashpreet, Eli and Yash and we're excited to share Phidata: a collection of AI Apps built with open-source tools. While helping teams build AI products, we built templates for spinning up LLM Apps quickly. Today we're open-sourcing our templates for building: - RAG LLM Apps - Autonomous LLM Apps - Multimodal LLM Apps - Data Engineering LLM Apps Templates are built with FastApi for serving, Streamlit for prototyping, PgVector for vectors and PosgreSQL for storage. Run them locally using docker and in production on AWS - with 1 command. - Github:…

Hi HackerNews, Lately, I have seen an explosion in posts offering paid APIs/services to get unstructured data into LLMs (i.e. langchain extract, ragflow, unstructured, unstract, just to name a few) and I have been largely disappointed by them, either because they fail to implement multimodal support, fail to give good context for "really tricky" PDFs / Word docs / Powerpoints, or are just plain difficult to use. In light of all these posts I figured I'd share my solution that has been working smoothly for me and my clients. I put it up on GitHub for free so you can check it…

Hey HN, we're super excited to share something we've been working on: OpenLIT. After an engaging preview that some of you might recall, we are now proudly announcing our first stable release! *What's OpenLIT?* Simply put, OpenLIT is an open-source tool designed to make monitoring your Large Language Model (LLM) applications straightforward. It’s built on OpenTelemetry, aiming to reduce the complexities that come with observing the behavior and usage of your LLM stack. *Beyond Basic Text Generation:* OpenLIT isn’t restricted to just text and chatbot outputs. It now includes automatic…

Gerbil is an open source app that I've been working on for the last couple of months. The development now is largely done and I'm unlikely to add anymore major features. Instead I'm focusing on any bug fixes, small QoL features and dependency upgrades. Under the hood it runs llama.cpp (via koboldcpp) backends and allows easy integration with the popular modern frontends like Open WebUI, SillyTavern, ComfyUI, StableUI (built-in) and KoboldAI Lite (built-in). Why did I create this? I wanted an all-in-one solution for simple text and image-gen local LLMs. I got fed up with needing to manage…

I’ve been working on AnyModal, a framework for integrating different data types (like images and audio) with LLMs. Existing tools felt too limited or task-specific, so I wanted something more flexible. AnyModal makes it easy to combine modalities with minimal setup—whether it’s LaTeX OCR, image captioning, or chest X-ray interpretation. You can plug in models like ViT for image inputs, project them into a token space for your LLM, and handle tasks like visual question answering or audio captioning. It’s still a work in progress, so feedback or contributions would be great. GitHub:…
