Products that do what Nextflick.io – Watch a random movie trailer does
I want to introduce Nextflick to you, a website I made showing you a random movie trailer, so you can find out what to watch next. Technically, Nextflick is a rather simple website. Everything is rendered on the server-side. Movies are scraped from the TMDB API and dumped into a NoSQL database. When you request a page, a random movie is selected and it shows you a YouTube embed with a respective trailer. Even though this may seem like such a simple tool, I am immensely proud of it. It is my first project I ever actually shipped, and I had this idea in my head for over 5 years. Sadly I am…

We just launched Nextprev.it — A project we put together over a couple of days.<p>The project stemmed from a frustration with PDF file transfers and screen-sharing when giving design presentations to clients through Skype.<p>Please give it a go and let us know what you think - @nextprev<p>Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I treated myself to a solo hackathon this weekend and built https://next-season-of.com. The data is scrapped from IMDB and the website is generated using the hugo template engine. There's still a lot of optimization to be done but I'm planning to use this as a learning ground to try and get my pages to rank in Google. It would be really cool to search "next season of Ozark" and see a link to next-season-of.com.

I built Yourabbit.com — a site that curates hand-picked YouTube rabbit holes grouped by themes like quirky psychology, obscure tech, weird facts, and binge-worthy oddities. It’s not driven by the YouTube algorithm — every collection is themed and curated manually (for now), with a backend I’m automating to fetch and organize new rabbit holes daily. Built as a hybrid Astro + Next.js project, optimized for static generation and speed. I’m also pairing videos with custom summaries and commentary (using AI), and would love feedback from the HN crowd on: Content model (too wide? not specific…

I built a to-do list for movies and TV shows. Built on NextJS, deployed in Vercel, storage in Google Firebase, QA'ed with Playwright, designed with Pico.css, backed by The Movie DB, free and fun.

This weekend a well-known comedian was live-tweeting sardonic commentary for a new Lifetime movie. It got me thinking that it would be cool to be able to replay his tweets later so that someone who missed the live show would be able to sync them up with the movie. That, along with the fact that I've had lots of fun on Twitter during big events (like the elections), made me think that it'd be a fun hack to put together a Twitter playback site. So last night and tonight I threw together http://www.twitterplayback.com. Check it out an let me know what you think!

Hi HN! Over 3 years ago I developed a movies and series randomiser in Cordova web to deploy on app stores. The first versions had ads in it to monetize the development, also a "PRO" version was released for the price of 1 dollar (or something like that, the lowest price tier as far as I remember). Anyway, in recent years I've reached a point where all applications does not need to be monetized, some are just fun to develop and release for free. Show me a Movie is one of them! The current state of the app is the same as of 3 years ago. Besides getting it to work in the browser, minor bug…
