Products that do what Nimwave – build TUIs for the terminal, web, and desktop does

A terminal-based web browser in Nim.[1] Has acceptable (YMMV) CSS rendering, some JS support, and inline images (sixel/kitty). It can also use various protocols other than http(s) such as (s)ftp, gopher, gemini, ... Chawan started out as a w3m clone, and the UI still resembles it. However, the architecture has turned out quite different, with pages loaded in separate processes, and protocol/file type handling separated out into external binaries. An interesting result is that you can even register decoders for custom inline image formats, although practical use cases of this are…

Hi HN, I’m Mike, the founder and creator of Wave, a cross-platform open-source terminal that supports inline rendering, modern UI, and persistent sessions. I love the command line; I’ve been using it for over 25 years, starting with a Linux box I made with spare parts in my college dorm room. But while other devtools have been modernized, the terminal has been stuck, with the same basic functionality for over 40-years. What if your command line terminal could display more than just text? That’s crazy right (I can hear the screams of thousands of graybeard sysadmins). Not all the time, but…

PyTermGUI is a highly modular framework offering most of the features one would expect from a GUI library, such as a mature and open Widget API, animations, mouse support and other goodies, right inside the terminal! The markup language is another great feature of the library, and is used by practically all elements of it. It is based on Rich's implementation, but uses a more concise and easier to humanly parse syntax, while being over 10 times faster at parsing due to a long list of optimizations. There is a full Window Manager API included as well, allowing the user to move, resize and…

Not sure if I would post this for the last day of #marchintosh OR wait for tomorrow the 1st of April. Both apply equally. Anyway, here's a pet project of mine, I made it as a glued on for another pet project of mine, but it developed a life of it's own now and can soar skyward toward success, fame, and glory.

Hi HN, Trogon is a project to generate a TUI for command line apps. It presents the arguments, options, and switches as a form. Editing the form generates a command line, which you can then run with a keypress. I'm a lover of the command line. But I can recall only a fraction of the switches for most commands I use. I would love it if there was a TUI available for most commands. Trogon currently works with Python and the Click library, but I would like it to cover more of the Python ecosystem and also generate TUIs for apps not written in Python. More information in the repository. Let me…
