Products that do what OctAPI – Visualize API Routes Directly in VS Code does

Started noticing issues while working with friends that I thought only I was encountering: spending too long manually adding routes to postman, getting lost looking for a single route in the sea of files and thought Hey, I can fix that (I think?) So OctAPI is a VSCode extension that automatically detects and displays API routes from a local project (currently supports Express.js, NestJS, Next.js, Koa, Flask, and FastAPI), it filters and groups them, generates a Postman export JSON file, and adds to favs. It doesn't run your code and it all stays in your machine A friend literally screamed…

Sharing an internal tool that accelerated my development work 10-fold, especially with API debugging. Thought fellow developers here might find it useful. As a developer, I often have trouble reproducing errors at the client end. https://intercept.rest lets me debug and monitor API requests and responses. It is similar to the Network tab in Chrome Developer Tools but works for any API: mobile apps, webhooks, frontend etc. After I shared it with a close circle of friends, they found it incredibly useful and even found new use cases, I never imagined. Been a long time lurker here and…

It's very early days for the project, but I wanted to share it to see if there is interest. It is the final piece of the FastAPI server-side rendering stack I started building with FastHX and htmy (the two dependencies of this project besides FastAPI). Think of it as a more powerful and convenient alternative to tools like FastHTML, powered by FastAPI (without any modifications). I hope you'll like it.

I started this as a weekend project and posted it on HN 5 years ago. 300,000 users later, I just released v4 today. Octotree [1] gives GitHub a sidebar that improves file navigation and code/pull request review. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Any comment or feedback is appreciated. I built Octotree a while back [1]. It's an open-source browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari) that adds IDE-like tree view to GitHub. Due to popular request, GitLab is now also supported. Hopes you will find it useful. Link to install: https://github.com/buunguyen/octotree#install-on-chrome-firefox-and-opera.
