It was a success - being surrounded by smart kids who earned medals for their hard work made her perceive being good at math as "cool." I started hosting math contests at my workplace for colleagues' kids, and my daughter eagerly participated in dozens of these through elementary and middle school, continuing to this day. I’m (re)building a tool to help elementary schools place students into classes (original app still uses jQuery… porting to React). Placing students into classes is kind of like a puzzle where the first kids are easy, but when you get close to the end, you realize your earlier placements need to be moved around endlessly. That’s why I wrote an algorithm to help. Anyway, teachers tell me it’s kind of fun, so I made a game out of it! This game simplifies the process a lot in the name of getting something that’s solvable by hand and playable on a smartphone. Hope you enjoy.

From 2020-23 I taught at a highly accelerated math program in Pasadena, CA and was given the opportunity to develop and teach a quantitative computer science track for participating 10th-12th graders who had an interest in CS.
