Hi HN! We’re Marc and Iuliia from Papermark (https://papermark.io). We're building an open-source, modern document sharing platform with real-time engagement analytics and 100% customization. It all started as a tweet [1] and led to our launch on Product Hunt [2] last month. We crossed over 1000 stars and over 10 contributors on GitHub (https://github.com/mfts/papermark). Incumbents, like DocSend, founded in the early 2010s have been acquired already and just don't innovate anymore. Their main priority is enterprise clients. As founders and developers ourselves…

I’m one of the co-founders of Doctly AI. I wanted to share our story. We didn’t originally set out to build a PDF-to-Markdown parser. We spent a lot of time trying to get clean data…

Hey HN! I built SimplePDF Copilot: an AI assistant that can interact with the PDF editor. It fills fields, answers questions, focuses on a specific field, adds fields, deletes pages, and so on. It's built on top of SimplePDF that I started 7 years ago, pioneering privacy-respecting client-side pdf editing, now used monthly by 200k+ people. As for the privacy model: the PDF itself never leaves the browser. Parsing, rendering, and field detection all run client-side. The text the model needs (and your messages) goes to whatever LLM you point at. By default that's our demo proxy (DeepSeek V4…

hey hn, i’m alana, founder of basecase and creator of docbase www.getdocbase.com docbase is an open-source alternative to docsend, which lets you securely share documents and track engagement in real-time. with docbase, you can upload any document, get a secure link (with or without a password or expiration date), and view who interacts with it and when. one main use case is for founders to send their memos/decks to potential investors. as a founder and investor myself, it’s a tool i use all the time to both send and receive pitch documents. the idea came from a tweet [0], which…
