Project Page: https://rotel.dev Github: https://github.com/streamfold/rotel Hi HN, Ray and Mike here! We’re building Rotel, a new high performance, resource efficient approach to OpenTelemetry collection. Rotel is open source (Apache License 2.0) and runs as a standalone process and collects telemetry from external processes or other collection agents. It consumes 75% less memory and 50% less CPU in benchmarks https://streamfold.github.io/rotel-otel-loadtests/benchmarks, so it is particularly well-suited for environments where resource…

TraceLens is a new user interface and data collector for OpenTelemetry-based systems. Although there are existing tools like Jaeger and Zipkin that offer some visualization capabilities, I wanted a solution that could provide a deeper level of insight. TraceLens is not designed for production environments, but as a debugging tool to help developers better understand the intricacies of their systems. Key features are detailed component diagrams. and sequence diagrams.

Hi HN, We’re the team at MyDecisive.ai, and today we’re giving developers a peek at Octant — point-and-click control and visibility for your OpenTelemetry. You've likely felt the pain of the "observability tax," especially if you manage K8S clusters. The modern standard is to instrument everything with OpenTelemetry, but piping all those rich OTLP logs, metrics, and traces straight to a SaaS vendor (Datadog, Splunk, Honeycomb) gets expensive fast. You end up paying massive ingestion and storage costs for noisy, low-value data just so it's searchable when something breaks. With Octant you get…

Hey HN, Ola and Karthik here. We are working on Langtrace(https://github.com/Scale3-Labs/langtrace), an open source, open telemetry based SDK and monitoring/evaluations client for LLM based applications. The SDK generates OTEL standard spans and traces for popular LLMs like OpenAI, Anthropic and Cohere, popular frameworks like Langchain and LlamaIndex and vectorDBs like ChromaDB and Pinecone. The LLM monitoring/evaluations space has seen a number of products off late, both open source and closed source ones. But, a couple of things we have observed are: lack of…

Added an OTDR trace component as the latest in my component library for datacentre/network apps. Mainly for my own use in rackout.

I've added Prometheus and OpenTelemetry support to my beloved open-source pet project called Kuvasz, which is a cloud-native, feature-rich uptime & SSL monitoring service, written in Kotlin. If you already have an observability stack and you only need a free uptime/SSL monitor, you can easily integrate Kuvasz with it. Let me know what you think or what you miss from Kuvasz!
