Understanding scientific articles can be tough, even in your own field. Trying to comprehend articles from others? Good luck. Enter, Now I Get It! I made this app for curious people. Simply upload an article and after a few minutes you'll have an interactive web page showcasing the highlights. Generated pages are stored in the cloud and can be viewed from a gallery. Now I Get It! uses the best LLMs out there, which means the app will improve as AI improves. Free for now - it's capped at 20 articles per day so I don't burn cash. A few things I (and maybe you will) find interesting: * This is…

Hi HN! For the last 8 months we've been working on leaflet.pub, a web app for making delightful documents. We're trying to strike a balance between Notion and Google Docs — very fast, ultralight and easy to share, but also supporting rich blocks and multiple pages. Weirdly, none of the many notetaking/document apps that we could find hit this combination, so we made Leaflet. With it you can: - Instantly create a doc, without an account - Share read and edit links - Sign-in with email to sync your docs to different devices - Add rich blocks, like canvases, subpages, rsvps, and polls It's…

When I read papers, I have to jump between multiple tabs to find the dataset, code, videos, peer reviews, and so on. I tried to fix this with this project. It started as a project just for papers on arXiv, but after its initial success on Twitter (got like 1.9k views: the most I have gotten for a post), I have now expanded it to include other openly available papers from PubMed Central, bioRxiv, medRxiv, and eLife. These papers have been linked with their genes, proteins, diseases, drugs, clinical trials, 3D protein structures, code, and cited and similar papers. This project now has four…

Hi HN, Since 2019, I’ve been working on a writing platform designed for creating complex documents (e.g., theses). I personally use it for everything as it also allows to classify documents in categories so you can organize them efficiently. As of a few months ago, the app is also available in the browser, and you can now invite coworkers to collaborate on a document in real time. The app is somewhat inspired by LyX. It offers an intuitive, modern editor, but users don’t need to know any LaTeX. When it’s time to export, they can choose from a range of templates (IEEE paper, thesis, etc.). A…

Hi, I’m Peter, co-founder of Browspilot. I built Browspilot, a minimalistic tool, to help you recall anything you have ever seen online using any clues you remember, or just scroll through your past activity. Browspilot is perfect for popping up pages you use a lot but don’t want to keep open all the time or digging up stuff from way back. Whether you’re a student researching papers, a professional balancing multiple projects just type in what bit you recall in the moment, and boom, it’s there. Looking ahead, we’re excited to take search to the next level. We’re working on features that’ll…

Demo: https://youtu.be/pnznDL9SZvI PaperSync was a project was made by two CS freshmen, Matthew Li (me!) and Michael Li, in 24 hours during HackCMU. At a high level, we built PaperSync to make reading research papers easier and more collaborative. Users can reference any part of the paper, ask anything they want, and have other users reply, all within the paper itself! If you are interested in our work, we would love to talk! Reach out to us at [email protected] or [email protected].
