Products that do what Passphrase generator that makes an absurd-but-memorable story does

I wanted to share a simple tool I just released: Tool: https://strongphrase.net/ Source: https://github.com/blanchardjeremy/strongphrase.net ## Background I have been researching password security and got interested in diceware passphrases (https://www.eff.org/dice). Though the original xkcd comic claims that it is somewhat easy to remember four or five words and turn them into a little scene, I often find it pretty hard to remember the diceware passphrases. (It's taken weeks for me to finally remember it). I found this tool…

I began this in late September purely on the whims of frustration with thesaurus.com, which does not bother to focus the input box! So I made my own site that focuses the input box. And because I wanted a thesaurus where I could type just the term in the address bar (eg type carefulwords.com/word) to get my results. It is very rough around the edges right now. There are far too many synonyms, which themselves are only organized alphabetically. I hope to take the site in a more inspiring direction over time than merely synonyms. Perhaps euphemisms, or other poetic uses from the past, or…

As a fan of dense New York Times-style crosswords, I challenged myself to create topic-specific puzzles. It turns out that generating crosswords and efficiently placing words is a non-trivial computational problem. I started the project, "Joystick Jargon" combining traditional crossword elements with gaming-related vocabulary. Here's the technical process behind it: 1. Data Source: Used a 3.8 Million Rows Reddit dataset from Hugging Face (https://huggingface.co/datasets/webis/tldr-17). 2. Data Filtering: Narrowed down to gaming-related subreddits (r/gaming,…

I am a high school sophomore interested in security. I built this tool to help people learn how to make strong passwords that are not only hard to guess, but also easy to remember. I built this using Python, Flask, and Bootstrap. I would love your feedback, if any!

I built a procedurally generated word-search game where the puzzle never ends - as you scroll, the grid expands infinitely and new words appear. It’s designed to be quick to pick up, satisfying to play, and a little addictive. The core game works without an account using the pre-defined games, but signing up allows you to generate games using any topic you can think of. I’d love feedback on gameplay, performance, and whether the endless format feels engaging over time. If you try it, I’d really appreciate any bug reports or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Recently I became interested in knowing whether the passwords I used were in the list of breached passwords. One way to find out is to send your password to the link here https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords. However, while the owner of that website is a well respected security researcher, I still don't think it's wise to send my password to another website. So I downloaded the 24gb file, hashed my password and grepped the file for it. That unfortunately took a long time and I realized this was the perfect opportunity to use a BloomFilter and test the inclusion of a password…

Hey HN! While writing prompts for a few projects recently, a couple of friends and I realised that writing prompts today is like writing code in a txt file - it sucks and there is no tooling to help you. So we decided to hack on a tool to help you fix this - https://optimist.varied.ai/ It is literally a hack rn but we already find it useful for writing prompts. That said we'd love to talk to folks who are writing serious prompts everyday and see how the product can be better. Also the only reason the waitlist is there, is running this is super expensive like $100/day for…

Hey HN, I’ve been building a few SaaS products over the last couple of years, and in between larger features I sometimes build small tools to reset my brain. This started as one of those. It’s called WordBulb: https://wordbulb.com/word-cloud-generator At first, it was just a simple word cloud generator. But while building it, I kept thinking: why are most word clouds basically just decorative images? They look interesting, but they’re not useful. So I decided to make it interactive and embeddable — where every word can have its own target link. What it does Add your own words…
