Hey HN! I'm someone who both flies and programs drones. I've often struggled to make my drones perform perfectly, especially when the environment changes like a gust of wind. To solve this, I’ve trained ML Models to replace the Control Loops currently in charge of controlling most drones. These models perform better than Control Loops, require no tuning, and retain this performance in many more situations than Control Loops. Requiring no tuning also means that the same model can be used for multiple different drones/configurations, so it works out of the box. A high level model is also…

As a developer, one of the biggest obstacles I've encountered has been how to communicate with designers - especially, when it comes to constructing their designs. Over the years, I have come to realize that Designers and Developers just see the world differently - Developers see the world as defects in code text and Designers see the world as defects in pixels. This "language barrier" is what Redline (http://www.redline.cc) addresses -it allows Designers (or anyone really) to enter bugs visually and directly on the web page. Then, those mark-ups automatically creates a bug ticket in your…

My friend built this and I'm blown away with how much fun it is and the high level of polish. It renders 9 different strange attractors (Lorenz, Rössler, Aizawa, Chen, etc.) as particle systems — thousands of particles tracing chaotic paths in real time. You can rotate and zoom with touch/trackpad in 3D. The sound is the part that surprised me. It's not a soundtrack — the audio is generated from the motion itself using spatial audio, so tones shift as the attractor's behavior changes and the sound moves around you as you rotate the form. Put on headphones. The Playdate version uses the…
