Hi HN! Me and my buddy made this in a weekend as an experiment in 1. building something quickly and putting it out there and 2. using AI in an interesting way; in this case a poetry judge. Our “judge” isn’t perfect, but the hope is that at least it’s a relatively fair system that everyone can be sure evaluates their work. Hey HN, maker here. It was a serious 4-6 months of effort to build this. I have never poured as much love, attention and detail into a project before. So I really appreciate you having a looksie! A small weekend project built for fun: You start with a picture and post pics that visually rhyme. Based on whatever you see fit. Of course, you can invite friends, too! Did this during the holidays and just finished with few extra features: http://thingsand.me/ And an example blog: http://thingsand.me/jori I tried to keep the platform as simple as possible and focus on the images instead of making yet another blogging platform. TLDR - scratched my own itch with an app, added a pro plan and got my first subscribers this week! Last December I started digging into poetry, it was a topic I always thought I liked, but just hadn’t explored very much. I soon discovered that a lot of the poetry sites online had pretty annoying designs, e.g. ads right at the end of the poem, (muting any emotional impact). I've been frustrated by so many blogging platforms. Last I used Ghost. I thought it was expensive and I hated that www I had to prefix on custom domain. So, I built https://lykhari.com just for myself and then opened for public. If you want something simple do try. It became profitable and hence self sustaining!

A couple of months ago, I realized I was wasting too much time on Reddit. So I quit cold turkey and created a website that would email me top stories from Reddit every morning. After testing it on some of my friends for a month, it is now ready for the world. Hey HN! For a while I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to find a community for tech bloggers to get together and share what they’re working on, so here’s my attempt at making my own. Hey HN, This is a small project I made for a meetup (Creative Coding Amsterdam's poetry afternoon). With all the hype around LLMs these days, I wanted to create something silly and fun. I ended up with Glitchy BARD, which generates crappy poetry. It uses source text transformed into n-grams, while rhymes rely on the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary[0]. For the voice, I used the native SpeechSynthesis API instead of a fancy AI one. Everything runs on the client, but you can share a song via URL, which includes the random number generator seed. Hi HN! I've been tinkering on a programmatically controlled typewriter. I've got a working prototype and it's been a lot of fun to play with. Of course I connected it to ChatGPT so I can chat with it, and I also have it acting as a clock, but it doesn't just type out the time. It writes a poem about the time.
