Mail, webhooks, and tunnels for localhost

A fast SOCKS5 proxy that tunnels your traffic through what looks like normal SMTP email, bypassing Deep Packet Inspection firewalls. How it works: - Client runs a local SOCKS5 proxy (127.0.0.1:1080) - Traffic is sent to server disguised as SMTP (EHLO, STARTTLS, AUTH) - DPI sees legitimate email session, not a VPN/proxy Features: - One-liner install on any Linux VPS - Multi-user with per-user secrets and IP whitelists - Auto-generated client packages (just double-click to run) - Auto-reconnect on connection loss - Works with any app that supports SOCKS5 Tech: Python/asyncio, TLS…

Introducing Posthorn, a self hosted email gateway. One docker container (or Go binary) between every self hosted app on your VPS and your transactional email provider. Set up Posthorn once, point your apps to it, done. I was trying to deploy Ghost on a DigitalOcean droplet and found that DO and many different VPS services have started to block the default SMTP ports to try to combat the various types of abuse they get. To actually configure my app, I had to hack together a Postfix relay. In another project, I had a static site which had a contact form, but my free Formspree account was…

Hello HN, We’d like to show you our project — Nohooks[0]. The aim is to add webhooks to platforms that do not natively support webhooks. We really believe many APIs can provide a better developer experience by providing webhook notifications to enable us to automate more things. Nohooks works by intelligently polling the integrated platform's APIs, determining if a change has occurred, and generating webhook events. Nohooks currently supports webhooks from Notion’s Databases, Render’s Services & Deployments, and DigitalOcean’s Droplets. We will add more in the coming days and improve the…

Hey HN, I built this tool a while ago, and it looks like it's finally getting some traction lately -- wanted to post it up again here for anyone who's looking for a dead simple solution for webhooks that email you. For those who say new products are hard to trust ("you never know how long they'll be around!") -- this one has been casually running for just over 13 months now! https://webhooked.email

I work on the OpenZiti project and I have a CI server that accepts GitHub webhooks, but I don't want to expose my server to the internet with open ports. I used the Python SDK for OpenZiti (overlay networking platform) to create a GitHub Action that sends the webhook to my private server via overlay instead of via the open internet. This GitHub repo is a template that I made to show you how it all works. You can use it right away to run the sample server (httpbin-go) and see the GitHub Action in...action. Hi HN! I'm Jarek, and I've built this tool that allows publishing .local domains on the local network using mDNS. It also has a reverse proxy that handles HTTPS termination and port forwarding. I'm working on adding more features, like an index page with all available domains or allowing proxy redirects, so you could redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!
