I wanted to share the status with the Owncast project. If Wordpress is your self-hosted version of Medium, then this is your self-hosted version of Twitch. I've been little by little chipping away at building an easy to use and super useful live streaming server for individuals. It's still early days, but some recent updates include a dashboard where you can see some basic viewer metrics, configuration settings, and how your hardware is handling all that video crunching. This is based on an approach I made for a very high performance message and video multiplexing server. The project died, but I'm glad I get to share the a basic version with some http test code now. I admit this is the second time I've tried to show this off here today; I posted earlier but it got lost when no-one was watching :(

We are working on a product which makes stream processing easy for data analysts and data scientists. It’s a higher level alternative to Flink, Kafka Streams and Spark Streams. As well as making stream processing simpler, we also felt that lots of people were building these AWS stream processing platforms based on Kafka and something like Flink so wanted to offer this as a service. We have been involved in a number of real time streaming projects using tools such as Flink, Spark Streams and Kafka Streams backed by "real time" databases such as Druid. We always found these projects quite complex to develop and run, with stream processing in particular being a bit of a dark art. A stream to stream join in Flink can get quite mind bending for instance. In 2020 we had the idea of building a low code SaaS product for real time streaming analytics. I spent the past few weeks making an open source cloud code editing environment with an AI copilot and multiplayer collaboration! It's fully self-hostable in 5-10 minutes.
