I got pretty good at (and very addicted to) the lunar lander game from a few days ago... so I decided to make an autopilot for the lander based on what I felt like was the best strategy! Now I can have perfect landings every time without lifting a finger :D Writing the autopilot code was a lot more fun than I expected! It felt a bit like programming a robot. GitHub: https://github.com/rudderlabs/rudder-server/ === Firstly, a big thanks to the HN community for showing us love and support in our previous HN post (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21081756). At that point, we had just open-sourced the repo and were not fully prepared for a Show HN. We wanted to share updates since then and also do our official Show HN. Updates since Sept 2019 1. Changed the name from Rudder to RudderStack :) 2. API compatibility with Segment 3. Open-source control plane so no dependency on the hosted control plane for…

"Excited to launch CareerGPT.ai on Hacker news today! We're on a mission to help people ..yada...yada" No, that's ChatGPT's writing, not mine :) Folks, I was a PhD student once, in a non-home country, and just wished to know what was it like to go and work in the industry, being a programmer, or started a company. Torn apart between choices, I just wished there was a totally unbiased counselor to talk to. I couldn't do that with my supervisor since he always encouraged me to finish the thesis (of course). Heck, had ChatGPT exist back then, I would have had more infos and made decision…

I've been working on this for a while now, and I'm happy to share! I've been into launching weather balloons for a few years. One aspect of the hobby that really drew me in was the tracking side of things. Tracking systems let you follow the balloon's position throughout the flight and, most importantly, know exactly where it lands so you can recover the instrumentation. APRS is what I started out using during my first few years in the hobby, after I got my amateur radio license in 2020 (W0MXX). I designed a few small boards using the trackuino…

Hey HN! We're Marko and Darko, building SuperPlane with a small team. SuperPlane is an open source DevOps control plane for running event-driven workflows. It works across the tools teams already use like Git, CI/CD, incident response, observability, infra, notifications, etc. You can think of SuperPlane as 'n8n/Zapier for DevOps'. How do we do DevOps today? For many teams it's a mix of brittle scripts, one-off CI jobs, bespoke GitOps, and manual approvals scattered across channels. Pipelines are often the only workflow engine available, but they’re not a great fit when a workflow…

Hey HN, I posted Out Plane here last week. Wanted to share an update because I've been shipping a lot. I started this because deploying side projects was killing my motivation. Build something fun over a weekend, then waste two days on Dockerfiles, nginx, and SSL. So I built what I wanted — connect GitHub, push code, get a URL. Done. Since December I've added managed PostgreSQL, managed Redis with RedisInsight built in, Dockerfile auto-detection that pre-fills your config, real-time metrics, and scale to zero — no traffic means no bill. Per-second pricing, not hourly. Same Next.js + Postgres…
