Hi everyone — thanks for your interest in PRQL — let us know any questions or feedback! We're excited to be releasing 0.2[1], the first version of PRQL you can use in your own projects. It wouldn't exist without the feedback we got from HackerNews when we originally posted the proposal. [1]: https://github.com/prql/prql/releases/tag/0.2.0

SPyQL (https://github.com/dcmoura/spyql) is SQL with Python in the middle, an open-source project fully written in Python for making command-line data processing more intuitive, readable and powerful. Try mixing in the same pot: a SQL SELECT for providing the structure, Python expressions for defining transformations and conditions, the essence of awk as a data-processing language, and the JSON handling capabilities of jq. How does a SPyQL query looks like? $ spyql “ IMPORT pendulum AS p SELECT (p.now() - p.from_timestamp(purchase_ts)).in_days() AS days_ago, sum_agg(price…

PgQueuer is a Python job queue that uses PostgreSQL for everything — queue storage, locking, notifications. No Redis, no RabbitMQ, no separate broker to operate. If your app already has Postgres, you already have the broker. After ~2 years and 26 minor releases, 1.0 ships today as the first stable release. Strict semver from here on. Hi HN. I've gotten pretty tired of needing to learn a custom programming language for a tool I use once a week or less. So I figured, it might be easier to pick up if `jq` used a programming language I already know. Voila, gq.

Hi all, we recently open sourced the first version of Hashquery, a Python library which lets you model analytics, DRY up common logic, and execute it against a database or warehouse. We were originally rendering SQL directly for all our queries, but that spiraled out of control with more complex analysis; the SQL needed to be changed sporadically for each new database dialect (BigQuery, Redshift, Aethena, Postgres, etc etc) and the SQL fragments were very challenging to reuse (and so fragments were copy-pasted all over). ~~~ Advantages we think it has over writing SQL by hand: - Queries are…

I've always been curious about how SQL engines actually work. So I built a minimum viable SQL engine in Go. - Supports CSV files as tables - Supports SELECT, FROM, WHERE, LIMIT It's very simple: 1. Parses query string 2. Converts it into an AST representation 3. Executes the query against the CSV 4. Returns the results
