A large part of our (Real Kinetic's) business is helping organizations implement platform engineering, but we've found the existing tooling to be lacking. For IaC, Terraform state becomes a pain because TF treats infrastructure as "one-shot" commands. The Kubernetes controller model provides a nicer approach to managing infrastructure, but the tooling here is also lacking. For configuration management, Helm just doesn't really scale with complexity, nor does Kustomize. For resource orchestration, Crossplane is a step in the right direction but still has challenges and limitations. As a…

Hey folks, we built a Kubernetes operator for Renovate and wanted to share it. Instead of running Renovate as a cron job or relying on hosted services, this operator lets you manage it as a native Kubernetes resource with CRDs. You define your repos and config declaratively, and the operator handles scheduling and execution inside your cluster. No external dependencies, no SaaS lock-in, no webhook setup. The whole thing is open source and will stay that way – there's no paid tier or monetization plan behind it, we just needed this ourselves and figured others might too. Would love to hear…

People seem to be blindly hooking up their OpenClaw’s to their personal data. So, I built runtime controls to prevent at the least, very simple prompt injection attacks. Once installed, it hooks to Node.js child_process module in the gateway process and listens to tool calls and their response streams. And a fetch hook to monitor user prompts (both could’ve been through fetch, happy to discuss why this whole layer couldn’t just be a proxy). There are two layers of protection: First: Whenever there is a read-only tool call whose response an attacker can modify, we extract that part of the…

What PII-Shield does: It's a K8s sidecar (or CLI tool) that pipes application logs, detects secrets using Shannon entropy (catching unknown keys like "sk-live-..." without predefined patterns), and redacts them deterministically using HMAC. Why deterministic? So that "pass123" always hashes to the same "[HIDDEN:a1b2c]", allowing QA/Devs to correlate errors without seeing the raw data. Key features: 1. JSON Integrity: It parses JSON, sanitizes values, and rebuilds it. It guarantees valid JSON output for your SIEM (ELK/Datadog). 2. Entropy Detection: Uses context-aware entropy…

Hi HN! This is Adil, Salman, Co and Shuguang and we're excited to introduce archgw [1], an open source intelligent proxy for agents built on Envoy [2]. Arch moves the critical but crufty work around safety, observability, and routing of prompts outside business logic. Arch is a uniquely intelligent infrastructure primitive, engineered with purpose-built fast LLMs [3] for tasks like intent detection over multi-turn, parameter identification and extraction, triggering single/multiple function calls, and offers convenience features to auto dispatch LLM calls for summarization based on data…

Hi HN, With this operator, you can run Slurm in Kubernetes and enjoy the benefits of both systems. Both Slurm and Kubernetes can serve as workload managers for distributed model training and high-performance computing (HPC) in general. Each system has its strengths and weaknesses, but the trade-offs are significant. Slurm offers advanced and effective scheduling, granular hardware control, and accounting, but lacks universality. On the other hand, Kubernetes can be used for purposes other than training (e.g. inference) and provides good auto-scaling and self-healing capabilities. It's…

Hi HN! I’m Zach, co-founder / CTO of Platform Engineering Labs. We’re building formae, an open-source IaC system that stays in sync with real infrastructure instead of relying on manually maintained state and drift detection. We’ve just shipped Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform .tfvars support. The goal with this release was simple: make it easy to start using formae with infrastructure people already have. formae can now discover existing k8s workloads automatically and the ability to utilize existing Helm charts. Coming from Terraform / OpenTofu and already have variable…

Hi HN, Matvey, Ildar, Joey, and Dominik here. If you're building LLM agents that use tools, you're probably worried about prompt injection attacks that can hijack those tools. We were too, and found that solutions like prompt-based filtering or secondary "guard" LLMs can be unreliable. Our thesis is that agent security should be handled at the network level between the agent and the LLM, just like a traditional web application firewall. So we built Archestra Platform: an open-source gateway that acts as a secure proxy for your AI agents. It's designed to be a deterministic firewall against…
