Hello HN, I want to share something that I worked on for quite a while as my side project - www.heahy.com an IRC like chat where you can share various media and even record yourself (using web MediaRecorder api). Here is a thread with short explanation on how it works: https://www.heahy.com/channel/homepage/thread/3900adb9e441a09abc757461 I am looking for any feedback and if you have any ideas, advice or questions I am eager to hear it here or on heahy!

I created a pet project to see if it is of use and interesting to people. The idea is on-demand real-time chat rooms for trending topics and for personal use. You can go to the main page at www.urshoutbox.com to create your own room then share it across your social networks/email, etc. I created a hacker news specific "shoutbox" at http://www.urshoutbox.com/bLmYAL/hacker-news . We wanted an easy way to connect #channels/rooms between different chat teams, so we made Sameroom. It's like plumbing for chat—allowing you to connect different services in interesting ways (e.g. Hipchat Slack, Flowdock IRC, Slack Slack). Would love to hear what you all think about it.

This is related with a previous story I've seen today: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5330020 I've been working on a similar concept but based on IRC. Once authenticated with your Twitter account you can join a room using the URL, the path represents a channel. As I said, it's based on IRC which means that you can also join the same room using an IRC client. The code is here: https://github.com/malditogeek/lalo

This is a little project I've been working on for a while in order to better learn Python. Although IRC may not exactly be the most exciting medium, I still find it to be fun and useful, this interest lead me to writing a bot. In doing this I realized that what would actually be more interesting would be if I had a framework. There may already be such a thing, certainly there are IRC libraries, but I don't know if they're well-suited to deploying bots. At any rate if for no other reason than the fact that I am relatively new to programming and eager to learn I decided to build a framework.…
