Howdy all. I'm Zack . I've been thinking about the problem of misguided AI pull requests and figured I'd throw a possible solution out there for feedback. Basically, CleverCrow lets supporters give tokens to a GitHub repo (or set of issues in that repo) for the maintainers to use to build/fix stuff. The fun implementation challenges have been around implementing the pooling dynamics and keeping the maintainers in charge while the backers are motivated to support their work.

Hi HN, We're excited to share repo2vec: a simple-to-use, modular library enabling you to chat with any public or private codebase. It's like Github Copilot but with the most up-to-date information about your repo. We made this because sometimes you just want to learn how a codebase works and how to integrate it, without spending hours sifting through the code itself. We tried to make it dead-simple to use. With two scripts, you can index and get a functional interface for your repo. Every generated response shows where in the code the context for the answer was pulled from. We also made it…

We strongly believe working on open source software should be a viable source of income for many more developers. Unfortunately, the following barriers limit the extent of open source funding: - Only a small fraction of open source projects are funded, and most money goes to a few notable projects. - Each project has to market is self to get significant funding. - Large corporate donations provide the bulk of the funding, making it unreliable and unattainable for many. - Finding and supporting each of your dependencies is a cumbersome task. Which ones, how much, and on which platforms? So we…

Hey HN! We’re Ioannis & Zaf, building Algora.io to help open source projects reward their contributors & grow their communities. 1 min demo: https://twitter.com/algoraio/status/1641560954746839042 The problem: paid contributions in open source are scarce, low trust & high friction Our solution: we built an app that streamlines open source bounties on Github Our 1st customer was Remotion.dev (15.6k stars, Typescript/React) in November 2022, whose feedback helped us ship our Github app & iterate through our bounty workflow. To date, Remotion.dev has rewarded 17…

A bunch of developers and myself have created RepliByte - an open-source tool to seed a development database from a production database. Features: - Support data backup and restore for PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB - Replace sensitive data with fake data - Works on large database (> 10GB) (read Design) - Database Subsetting: Scale down a production database to a more reasonable size - Start a local database with the prod data in a single command - On-the-fly data (de)compression (Zlib) - On-the-fly data de/encryption (AES-256) - Fully stateless (no server, no daemon) and lightweight…

The official Slack AI product looks great, but with limited access and add-on pricing, I decided to open-source the version I built. Especially for all the communities on Slack that would have to convert to paid and buy the upgrade to access the official SlackAI product/add-on which is not going to be financially viable in most cases. There's no plan to sell anything, just something I built as a way to learn some new tools that I thought others might get use out of. The repo is a ready-to-run slack app that provides thread summaries and channel overviews on demand using OpenAI (heavy…

Hey everyone! I am an enthusiast trader and a year ago I had this idea to create a free-to-use website that would feature all the most essential tools that traders would use on a daily basis. So I learned to code and build it—I did everything including design, texts, code, and SEO—which took me 12 months to launch and a year and a half to make it look like it currently does. I was into marketing and design before, but I didn't know barely anything about coding. The website is built using Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Typescript with Framer Motion animations and lots of APIs. I’m actively…
