Hey HN, I’m an ex-Google engineer trying to get back into music production. I needed a way to sequence my hardware synths using AI contexts without constantly switching windows, so I built this. It runs entirely in the browser using WebMIDI. No login required. It connects to your local MIDI devices (if you're on Chrome/Edge) and lets you generate patterns. Tech stack: [React / WebMIDI API / etc]. Link: www.simplychris.ai/droplets Code is a bit messy, but it works. Feedback welcome.

I was poking through the iio devices on my Framework the other day and turns out Framework 12s have a pretty accurate hinge angle sensor! So I made a version of LidAngleSensor (https://github.com/samhenrigold/LidAngleSensor) but for the Framework 12 on Linux, so you can make your hinge sound rusty

Hi HN, I’ve been working on a browser-based tool for exploring and debugging Web Audio API graphs. Web Audio Studio lets you write real Web Audio API code, run it, and see the runtime graph it produces as an interactive visual representation. Instead of mentally tracking connect() calls, you can inspect the actual structure of the graph, follow signal flow, and tweak parameters while the audio is playing. It includes built-in visualizations for common node types — waveforms, filter responses, analyser time and frequency views, compressor transfer curves, waveshaper distortion, spatial…

Hey HN, I just released v4 of my gapless playback library that I first built in 2017 for https://relisten.net. We stream concert recordings, where gapless playback is paramount. It's built from scratch, backed by a rigid state machine (the sole dependency is xstate) and is already running in production over at Relisten. The way it works is by preloading future tracks as raw buffers and scheduling them via the web audio API. It seamlessly transitions between HTML5 and web audio. We've used this technique for the last 9 years and it works fairly well. Occasionally it will blip…

Descript costs $24/mo, so I built this over a single weekend with Fable! Introducing Rescript: edit videos by simply editing the transcript text. Drop in a video and it is transcribed locally with per-word timestamps and speaker labels. Delete words in the transcript and the corresponding clip is cut from the video. Runs fully in the browser: Local, free, offline and open source. → Github https://github.com/wassgha/rescript → App https://wassgha.github.io/rescript

Hi HN, We’re excited to share Libretto – a web-based recording and editing tool designed for creators, podcasters, and teams working remotely. If you’re familiar with Descript, you’ll find Libretto is similar but with unique features and a focus on simplicity. What makes Libretto unique: Local recording for high-quality audio/video: Libretto records media locally on each participant’s device and uploads it in the background, ensuring pristine quality even under poor network conditions. This works like double-ended recording but entirely within your browser. Powerful yet simple editing…
