I am a hardware engineer and security researcher and I've been wondering whether my work could be partially automated, so I can focus on other topics as well, so I build revenant - a LLM powered (Claude, OpenAI, local AI) toolkit that builds around radare2, ghidra etc and can fully automatically analyze firmware, implement open source skeletons incl. pinouts, hardware bringup, peripheral bringup etc. or can even 1:1 replicate existing firmware so old hardware can be resurrected with modern toolchains. Some applications are: - Give old hardware new life - Security Analysis of shady firmware…

Hi HN, I’m Ashu, founder of VideoDB. I’ve spent a big chunk of my life building video infrastructure. Not video creation. Video plumbing. The stuff you only learn after production breaks: timebases, VFR, keyframes, audio sync drift, container quirks, partial uploads, live streams, retries, backpressure, codecs, ffmpeg flags, cost blowups, and “why is this clip unseekable on one player but fine on another”. This week we shared VideoDB Skills, a skill pack that lets AI agents call those infra primitives directly, instead of you wiring pipelines with screenshots plus FFmpeg glue. Repo:…

I have a favour to ask. I’ve been working for a while on Kalavai, a project to make distributed AI easy. There are brilliant tools out there to help AI hobbyists and devs on the software layer (shout out to vLLM and llamacpp amongst many others!) but it’s a jungle out there when it comes to procuring and managing the necessary hardware resources and orchestrating them. This has always led me to compromise on the size of the models I end up using (quantized versions, smaller models) to save cost or to play within the limits of my rig. Today I am happy to share the first public version of our…

I've been a photons-on-glass filmmaker for over ten years, and I've been developing ArtCraft for myself, my friends, and my colleagues. All of my film school friends have a lot of ambition, but the production pyramid doesn't allow individual talent to shine easily. 10,000 students go to film school, yet only a handful get to helm projects they want with full autonomy - and almost never at the blockbuster budget levels that would afford the creative vision they want. There's a lot of nepotism, too. AI is the personal computer moment for film. The DAW. One of my friends has done rotoscoping…

Hello, Hacker News community! I’m Gary, the founder of Vizard.ai. I am thrilled to introduce you to our cutting-edge AI video editing tool that is designed to help content creators/marketers/businesses alike to repurpose long-form webinar/event/speech videos into bite-size social-ready highlights. As a beginner in video editing, I struggled with the complexity of professional video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple Final Cut Pro. I found it overwhelming and challenging to use, and I would eventually abandon my efforts to edit videos. But I knew that video…
