Over a year ago, I purchased a small online business selling life skills curriculum to homeschool and special education families. The main asset was the library of 400+ lessons, each including a short video and PDF. The revenue appeared to reflect meaningful demand for such a program. At the time I purchased the business, the delivery mechanisms were pretty fragmented and browsing the lessons was all behind the paywall. Today I'm releasing a whole new website that brings (I hope) a more modern experience. Principally you can now browse all of the life skills library. I'm also hoping that…

I've created a whiteboard which I use every lesson when teaching maths, though it can be used for anything. It currently has a few hundred teachers using it daily. It's designed for use with touch-screen interactive whiteboards in classrooms, and stays in sync with your phone/tablet/whatever without signup/login. You can also find me on Twitter where I post updates etc: https://twitter.com/jakegmaths Some features and cool things: * Sync devices without signup - offline by default, just hit 'sync devices' and use the same code on multiple devices to sync *…

I’m (re)building a tool to help elementary schools place students into classes (original app still uses jQuery… porting to React). Placing students into classes is kind of like a puzzle where the first kids are easy, but when you get close to the end, you realize your earlier placements need to be moved around endlessly. That’s why I wrote an algorithm to help. Anyway, teachers tell me it’s kind of fun, so I made a game out of it! This game simplifies the process a lot in the name of getting something that’s solvable by hand and playable on a smartphone. Hope you enjoy.

Itsumo is a language learning app that generates short lessons from stories about topics you choose, at your level. Instead of working through a fixed curriculum or another flashcard deck, you can make a lesson about whatever happens to be interesting to you that day, with audio, tappable words, and grammar notes. You can try a language story from the landing page without signing up, and if you want to try full access, no credit card is required at signup, and the premium tier free for 14 days. It supports Japanese, Polish, Spanish, English, Portuguese, French and Italian. I built it because…
