Shuru is a lightweight sandbox that spins up Linux VMs on macOS using Apple's Virtualization.framework. Boots in about a second on Apple Silicon, and everything is ephemeral by default. There's a checkpoint system for when you do want to persist state, and sandboxes run without network access unless you explicitly allow it. Single Rust binary, no dependencies. Built it for sandboxing AI agent code execution, but it works well for anything where you need a disposable Linux environment.

Hi HN, I'm excited to share my open source project, a browser orchestrator. It's purpose is to make it easy to manage many browser profiles on one system. Currently it only works on MacOS, but since I've built it using Tauri (which is a Rust backend and TypeScript frontend), I expect to add Linux and Windows support in the future. I've built it primarily for myself as I use a lot of browsers and having an easy way to manage all of my profiles would make (have made, actually) my dock less cluttered haha. Also, part of why I built it is because as someone who doesn't really care about…

Not sure if I would post this for the last day of #marchintosh OR wait for tomorrow the 1st of April. Both apply equally. Anyway, here's a pet project of mine, I made it as a glued on for another pet project of mine, but it developed a life of it's own now and can soar skyward toward success, fame, and glory.

After building several Tauri desktop apps, I kept hitting the same wall: there's no reliable way to access cameras across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Every project meant reinventing camera integration, dealing with platform-specific APIs, and debugging permission issues. So I built CrabCamera – a Tauri plugin that handles all the camera complexity for you. What it does: - One API, three platforms: Same Rust code works on Windows (DirectShow), macOS (AVFoundation), and Linux (V4L2) - Permission handling: Automatically requests camera permissions on each platform - Format conversion: Takes care…

Hi everyone! Trobo here, the creator of Kanri. This has been my main side/passion project for around a year now, so here's a bit of a back story: In the COVID-19 lockdown, I needed a new way to handle the big amount of tasks which were thrown at me in school, mostly coming in through emails so it was very difficult to keep track of them. That's where I discovered Trello and instantly fell in love with it. For the whole lockdown period, I used it extensively to organize my tasks, and it was great. Naturally as a programmer, I was drawn in to try making my own apps in the productivity…

Hey HN, For years, my local development setup has been a fragile mess of tools that never quite played nicely together. On my mac, it was a constant battle with Homebrew services starting (or not starting) on boot, conflicting PHP and Node versions managed by `asdf` or `nvm`, and a collection of `docker-compose.yml` files that I'd copy-paste and tweak for every single project. The cognitive load was just too high. Setting up SSL was another chore involving `mkcert`. Sharing a quick demo with a colleague meant firing up ngrok. And if I wanted to run two projects that needed different versions…

Hi HN — I am the CTO of Rierino (https://rierino.com/platform/core), a low-code backend platform built for developers, not business users. We recently launched our Developer Lite version on AWS Marketplace, and we're offering a free private trial to HN users. We built our low-code platform while working with scale-ups, out of frustration with how painful and expensive backend logic can be to implement and maintain in high-speed, distributed environments. It either meant hand-coding everything or relying on rigid tools that abstract away too much. We tested a range of LCNC…

About a year ago I was working on a project with mirrored Kubernetes clusters deployed across various regions. Constantly switching contexts was a big pain for me and I badly needed something more practical to work with multiple clusters, ideally simultaneously. At that time everyone was talking about Rust and I really wanted to try it out. I then found Tauri, a framework to build GUI apps with Rust + JavaScript. I was sold. I learned Rust and built the app I always wanted to use. Fast, lightweight and with the ability to connect to multiple clusters simultaneously. Fast forward to today,…
