Fix your room acoustics from a single recording

Hey there! I made a little app that lets you to calibrate your turntable by putting on any record and tapping a button. It's called Grooved and it uses your phone's microphone to see how fast your platter is going, almost like magic. You can see what it looks like in action here: https://twitter.com/OKatBest/status/1795453042994680148 The app itself is free without ads, subscriptions, or trackers. It's a tool I built for myself, and I just thought someone else might want to use it too. I have never seen this technology being used before, all other apps require you to…

Our team is filled with technologists and creators, and when we record and edit videos, 80% of the time is spent chopping up the video, removing silences, and picking the right takes. So we decided to build a tool that did that for you — or at least get you there most of the way! Our initial implementation is somewhat naïve and uses a user configurable silence threshold that just reads in volume levels. In the future, we’d like to use a frequency-based approach that focuses on the human voice. We’re also open to ideas, so let us know if you have any!

Seamlessly automate your audio-visual setup! This open-source framework uses the Open Sound Control protocol to integrate audio mixer consoles, OBS, PTZ cameras, and more. Perfect for live production enthusiasts, streamers, and tech tinkerers. I have made it originally to meet our needs, then opensourced it: We needed to move a PTZ cam based on the stage/pulpit mute states on our X32, but it is capable for way more. Let me know what do you guys think! Cheers!

I recently got Ableton Move and was disappointed by how difficult it was to convert samples into Move-compatible drum racks, so I made a simple CLI tool for that. I hope others find it useful, and at some point, Ableton sees the need and provides us with a built-in solution.

I make audio tools, and this one came out of the clip-pulling loop: scrub to find the right line, set the in point, set the out point, name the file, repeat. Vocal Slice transcribes your audio, then you can simply highlight the passage you want and the waveform jumps to exactly that span. Fine-tune with the handles, export a named clip. Windows and macOS. https://vocalslice.com [email protected] Happy to answer anything in replies, please get in touch!

Hi, I'm the author of this little Web Audio toy which does physical modeling synthesis using a simple spring-mass system. My current area of research is in sparse, event-based encodings of musical audio (https://blog.cochlea.xyz/sparse-interpretable-audio-codec-pa...). I'm very interested in decomposing audio signals into a description of the "system" (e.g., room, instrument, vocal tract, etc.) and a sparse "control signal" which describes how and when energy is injected into that system. This toy was a great way to start learning about physical modeling synthesis, which seems…

Dear HN, this is Thomas from Tape It. We're releasing our studio quality noise reduction software as a free web app today. You can try it at: https://tape.it/denoiser Listening examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRjxY7GTV6Y We've been researching on this for over two years, and will present the paper next week at the Audio Engineering Society conference in NY. You can read about the research here: https://tape.it/research/denoiser Short version: we combined a classic DSP denoiser with a neural network that controls it. Training this it…

I was frustated by having to draw system design diagrams by hand when discussing it with my team mates or in an interview. So I thought "Wouldn't it be great if someone draws it for me, while I think out loud?". That is when I came up with VoiceDraw. You can just think out loud or discuss your system architecture with a friend/interviewer, the diagrams are automatically drawn along with your reasoning, open questions and tradeoffs beautifully written on to the side. My friend Tyler and I built a website that you can use to make your headphones (or speakers) sound better. It helps you find EQ settings that change the soundstage of your headphones. Soundstage is the space that music appears to fill when you play it through a system. On most headphones, the music sounds like it’s coming from inside your head, which isn’t ideal. Our website helps you move the music from inside of your head to into the room. This makes instruments sound massive and can dramatically improve clarity, impact, and enjoyment. Don’t try too hard to imagine it - just know that if…

Hello HN, This is my first Show HN and hopefully a fun one for y'all. Parrot is a web app for easily recording throwaway audio clips. It was originally intended for pronunciation practice but may find other uses. I got the idea to work on Parrot after reading the Launch HN of Issen [1]. Thinking about ways to help language learners improve their pronunciation, I remembered an easy method I've humbled myself with in the past: listening to a recording of my own voice. The idea is to repeatedly record and listen to yourself, adjusting your pronunciation until you get it right. What makes Parrot…
