SandCrab▲152Hello HN. SandCrab is an app I originally had the idea for and hacked together over a couple of weekends last October. More recently, I’ve been working on adding new features to it as I use it more as my daily tool to interact with my s3 buckets. A few recent features I am excited about include the ability to search across all of your buckets using wildcards and regular expressions as well as searching and filtering by metadata (e.g. content type, file size, date created, etc). I’ve also added support for configuring and generating presigned urls directly in the app which is nice. The app…

Hey HN: Kaveh here, the founder of https://www.usage.ai/ We launched on Hacker News for the first time early last year, and we've made a lot of progress since then. We've saved tens of millions of dollars for companies, and we are even more excited to announce the launch of a new product: insured reservations for RDS! We worked closely with AWS on this feature and are excited to finally make it generally available. We help companies drive down AWS EC2 & RDS spend. Why? Because the way it's done now is a pain. DevOps and Software Engineers end up spending time managing costs…

I launched AWS Auto Cleanup (https://github.com/servian/aws-auto-cleanup) in April 2019. The goal of the project was to create a tool that would delete unused or abandoned AWS resources. Each supported resource has a maximum time-to-live (TTL) which can be extended by allowlisting your resources in a simple web UI. I've been slowly added support for more commonly used/expensive AWS resources over time. Feedback, comments, suggestions and more always welcome.

I have been a Cloud Security Consultant for over 13 years and all that experience I put into building ARGOS Cloud Security. Probably the most common thing I've seen was teams spending loads of time manually investigating alerts from security products. Detecting security issues is not what it’s ever been about, but about the investigation of these detected issues. If you don’t have time to investigate everything, then what’s the point? Organizations spend time and money on security consultants to help them investigate their environments, but these are often only point-in-time engagements,…

Hey HN: I'm Kaveh, the founder of Usage (https://www.usage.ai/) We help companies drive down AWS costs. Why? Because the way it's done now is a pain. Stakeholders, especially engineers, are required to spend unnecessary time manually finding underutilized or overly expensive EC2s. We believe the optimization process should be done automatically through a series of sophisticated algorithms. At the moment, there are over 70,000 AWS EC2 prices - doing that manually just won't scale at most organizations. My background is in software engineering. Previous to founding Usage, I…
