Hi folks! I'm Ulysse, and Tesseral (https://github.com/tesseral-labs/tesseral) is open-source auth for B2B SaaS. Early in my career, I worked on enterprise auth and security features at Segment. I've been obsessed with the subtle details of enterprise software ever since. For example, I wrote an implementation of SAML in the early days of the COVID pandemic because I thought it was fun. Over the years, I've felt frustrated that too few people have seemed interested in making auth obvious for developers of business software. Auth really doesn't need to be so confusing. We…

dish is a lightweight, 0 dependency monitoring tool in the form of a small binary executable. Upon execution, it checks the provided sockets (which can be provided in a JSON file or served by a remote JSON API endpoint). The results of the check are then reported to the configured channels. It started as a learning project and ended up proving quite handy. Me and my friend have been using it to monitor our services for the last 3 years. We have refactored the codebase to be a bit more presentable recently and thought we'd share on here! The currently supported channels include: - Telegram -…

Hey HN, TL;DR: We’ve launched a free version of our Shadow IT scanner to identify which SaaS apps are used in your company, who uses them, and if they have high-risk OAuth scopes. Philip and I went through YC with AccessOwl in 2022. We started the company because, in our previous roles, we struggled to track all the SaaS apps, users, and granted OAuth scopes. The Shadow IT scanner started as a small feature within AccessOwl, which manages SaaS vendors and user accounts centrally. But a standalone scanner would have made our lives so much easier in our previous roles. So, we thought, why not…

Hello HN, We're excited to introduce Aperture[0], an open-source project that addresses the challenges of detecting and mitigating reliability and performance issues in microservices. Aperture provides a reliability abstraction layer, enabling globalized load control for easier management across distributed microservice architectures[1]. DoorDash uses Aperture and detailed its implementation in a recent blog post[2], discussing microservice architecture failures such as cascading failure, retry storm, death spiral, and metastable failure. The post also examines the limitations of existing…
