Background: I noticed that my better half spent a lot of time searching for the same thing (at the time it was maternity dresses) across a whole load of women's fashion stores online. So I built her a site that lets her search some of the top stores from one site. I have an idea for a few social elements that I want to add to try and make more of a community. Hey there HNers, First of all, apologies for the shameless "self-promotion" - just felt like sharing :-) I've just launched a very simple project on the e-commerce front and although I'm currently involved in a few "bigger and bolder" projects, decided to give this a go. It's a DIY e-commerce tool that allows people to setup stores on Facebook, for free. Shopping online can be pretty tedious if you care about the quality of what you are buying. The time it takes can scale pretty proportionally to some combination of the value, relative importance, and complexity of the purchase. I think LLMs can help expedite and personalize the online shopping experience to a degree marketplaces just don't currently provide. I don't think anybody really wants to read the product descriptions of a bunch of products, read reviews, do pairwise product comparisons, and find the best deals across different websites? this project started at a local hackathon and I spent another 4 or 5 weekends polishing it up. My girlfriend, who I brought along to the event, said she was getting 'tired of her friends asking her what she will be wearing tonight or the brand of the foundation she is using right now'. A digital wardrobe, for the lack of better words. It was a fun project and some of the early adopters are her friends.
