Hello everyone, I created a tool called "site2pdf" over the weekend. This tool converts the main page and sub-pages of a website that match a specified URL pattern into a PDF file. It is particularly suitable for AI-based RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and QA (Question Answering) tasks. GitHub: https://github.com/laiso/site2pdf/ # Features - Generate PDFs of main and sub-pages - Based on Node.js and Puppeteer - Easy-to-use CLI tool I want to make this software available online for my friends, but I'm struggling with the best architecture to use. I want to meet…

Hello HN! It kept surprising me how much of a hassle it is to generate a PDF with decent HTML5 rendering from my SaaS apps. I tried several free libs and APIs but ended up with botched rendering a lot of times. So I set out to simplify this chore by creating an AWS hosted HTML to PDF conversion API that's based on Chrome. This API will allow a dev to just send the HTML to our API and get a PDF in response without having to worry about running and managing Chrome somewhere in their infra. I just finished the first version of my landing page and hosted pdf generation API…

Hi HN, I built a collection of 40+ PDF tools using Kimi k2.5 (with about $50 worth of credits) and a lot of “vibe coding”. The site: https://pdfuck.com (almost forgot I owned this domain ) What it does: 40+ PDF-related tools Completely free No downloads, everything runs in the browser All processing is done locally in your browser for better privacy It’s deployed on Cloudflare, so the running cost is basically close to zero. This started as a small experiment and slowly grew into a fairly complete PDF toolbox. I’d really appreciate feedback on performance, UX, and what tools you…

Here's a neat hack I made recently to do basic PDF editing directly in a browser—without having to upload anything to a server. I was initially looking for a way to do simple PDF modification (extracting pages, merging, and adding page numbers). There are some good server-side tools for this (QPDF, PDFTk, PDFBox, iText, Hummus), but for better speed and privacy I really wanted a 100% client-side solution. There are a few good JavaScript PDF libraries for reading and displaying PDFs (pdf.js) and creating PDFs from scratch (jsPDF, PDFKit), but I couldn't find any for editing existing PDFs. So,…

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…

I’ve built a tool that allows you to convert any web content into an ebook with just a few clicks. The idea came from my need to frequently save articles or web pages as ebooks for offline reading and sharing. However, I found existing tools either too complex or lacking flexibility, so I decided to create something simpler, faster, and that supports both EPUB and PDF formats. Key Features: - Quick Conversion: Input a list of URLs, with each URL treated as a chapter, and the tool will automatically generate an ebook in either EPUB or PDF format. - Content Optimization: It automatically…
