I made this because I think that if contracts were written in plain text files and managed more like software, from version control to IDEs, lawyers would work more quickly and intelligently for their clients, saving them money. But the entire practice of transactional law is stuck on Microsoft Word. My clients are mostly technology companies with an appetite for innovation. With their encouragement, I am moving my own legal practice away from formats like Microsoft Word and into plain text. Electronic signatures of plain text contracts is the starting point for that effort. The MVP is this…

88% of people never read the terms and conditions of websites or services they use. However, most people want to know what they are agreeing to in those terms. That is why we created Legal Leaf. We strongly believe that everyone should have easy access to those agreements, in language they can understand. The results are displayed in the top right corner without affecting web speeds. Legal Leaf is a beta product still…

A simple tool for people like me whose brain hurts when they read any legal document full of bloated jargon. It's called Docu and it's makes contract review super simple. It gives you a very readable summary, highlights beneficial clauses, flags potential risks, and gives you actions you can take to make the contract work for you. Build on OpenAI assistant API using a combination of prompts. https://docu.review

Plus there's tons of repetitive boilerplate clauses scattered across documents. Lawyers often avoid restructuring documents because it's too error-prone. The Solution: Write contracts in Markdown with tons of helper functions:…

Hi HN! I built SimplePDF 7 years ago, with the vision from day one to help get rid of bureaucracy (I'm from France, I know what I'm talking about) Fast forward to this week where I finally released something I had on my mind for a long time: a repository of the main US forms that are ready to be filled, straight from the browser, as opposed to having to find a PDF tool online (or local). I focused on healthcare, ED, HR, Legal and IRS/Tax for now. On the tech-side, it's SimplePDF all the way down: client-side processing (the data / documents stay in your browser). I hope you find…
