Products that do what ssh late.sh - a cozy command-line Clubhouse for computer people does
So first, what are we? A Clubhouse inside the terminal, where people can take a break, chill, chat with others all around the globe, listen to music, play some games, or paint on a live artboard :). ssh late.sh (or use the companion CLI) That's all. No passwords. No OAuth. No accounts. Your SSH key is your identity. Honestly, I've been a little nervous to post this. I wanted the Clubhouse to be something I'm genuinely proud of before sharing, and I think we are finally there :) There is so much here, so I'll really try to focus on the core: - full-scale chat, mentions, rooms, public and…

Hi HN, I wrote a custom SSH server in Go, give it a try. It uses your terminal user and SSH keys to authenticate implicitly. Instead of getting a shell, you get an IRC-style chatroom with everyone else. $ ssh chat.shazow.net If you're getting "Permission denied (publickey)", please use ssh-keygen to create a keypair. Instructions here: https://help.github.com/articles/generating-ssh-keys/ SSH is a really cool protocol; it's a lot like HTTP2. This is a demo of one thing you can do with it, but I plan to factor out the code into libraries that will let you build all…

Looking to get some feedback from the Hacker News community. I wrote the book with a focus on penetration testers and red teamers, but there are great examples for network admins, developers, and blue team defenders as well. You can pick up a copy for free here through May 19, 2019: https://gumroad.com/l/the_cyber_plumbers_handbook/hackernews... Please note, because it's hosted on Gumroad, it does require an email. If you don't want to give out your actual email, check out an anonymous email service. I give it away to students for free, so if you know of one that…

ssh 85.27.249.130 -p 2222 username / password does not matter Enjoy asci[l]icious lava lamp action right in your console. Quickly hacked together in node, using a fifo file, hasciicam and the ssh2 library, running in docker for "security" :)

Hey all. I built ShellDash, an interactive server admin dashboard with shell scripting and an appealing globe UI. https://shelldash.com The goal is to provide a global monitoring view of your servers, with shell script access, in a way that feels natural and productive, plus a minimal and appealing UI/UX. The technology is fairly interesting. This being a browser app, I built a Go WASM SSH client running in the browser, proxied through my server WebSocket endpoints. This means I can provide you a Web UI to access your servers via SSH, without ever needing to see your…

ssh [email protected] (pass: hn) I did this simple chat with Node.js. It basically consists of a server which listens on a UNIX socket and clients which can connect to it. I changed ttychat's login shell to the chat client (ttychat.js) so that anyone who SSHes into the server automatically joins the chat room. Feel free to fork on Github: https://github.com/olalonde/node-ttychat

This is a model I’ve been thinking about lately. It demonstrates a pattern that I’m wondering could exist, where terminal applications, BBS-style shared user boards, and other expressions of creativity and sharing are created with web technologies but rendered into the terminal and accessed over SSH. I like that this brings back some kind of old days of the internet feeling and uses web technologies but sidesteps the public World Wide Web, even though it’s still on the internet. You can try it out too right now, and I’m thinking about making the self-hosting specialized applications part a…
