24 alternatives to Sticky Notes

I've been wanting a simple sticky notes board as my browser's new tab page for ages. So last week I built one in half a day using Claude Code. It's written in Vue 3, client-only. The code quality honestly surprised me. I wrote an extensive prompt: what it should do, what it should look like, how I wanted the project set up, reusable components, composables, what I wanted and didn't want. Put Claude to work, went for a walk, came back to more or less what you see on the site. It wrote some code I would've done differently, but it also did useful things I hadn't thought of. No backend, no…

Hi HN, I’m a product designer by background, not a traditional software engineer. Over the last year, tools like Claude and ChatGPT completely changed how I work. I started with small internal tools, and now I’m “vibe coding” multiple highly personalized apps. As I iterated between Claude Code (implementation) and ChatGPT (ideation / thinking), I kept running into the same problem. To think clearly, I had to repeatedly re-explain: - what the code currently does, - what changed recently, - and why certain decisions were made. That re-summarization step became a real bottleneck. So I…

I got tired of Claude Code forgetting all my context every time I open a new session: set-up decisions, how I like my margins, decision history. etc. We built a shared memory layer you can drop in as a Claude Code Skill. It’s basically a tiny memory DB with recall that remembers your sessions. Not magic. Not AGI. Just state. Install in Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add https://github.com/mutable-state-inc/ensue-skill /plugin install ensue-memory # restart Claude Code What it does: (1) persists context between sessions (2) semantic & temportal search (not just…

I started this in January as a hook for Claude Code's plan mode: when it finished planning, instead of approving a wall of text in the terminal, the plan opens in your browser and you could mark it up like a document. Your annotations go back into the agent session. It grew from there. There's now PR-style code review (git, jj, p4, GitHub/GitLab PRs) and annotation for markdown, URLs, and folders. Agents produce a lot of HTML now, so Plannotator renders those artifacts and lets you annotate them too. Nine harnesses are supported: Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI, Gemini, OpenCode, Kiro,…

I got tired of having to manage my sticky notes, and I'm not a huge fan of Google Keep. Stickyflo is how I prefer creating/editing/moving notes around. While this ain't a fancy AI app, it does the job (for me, and hopefully for you too!).

I’ve always liked fast online tools for jotting notes or organizing thoughts — but most “productivity” sites either save data to the cloud, require sign-ups, or are full of distractions. So I built an online productivity tools website, a small collection of browser-based tools. It includes an online notepad where you can write and save notes right in your browser, a cornell notes tool available in more than 20 languages, and more coming soon like a pomodoro timer and a simple blank page for focused writing. Everything works entirely in-browser using localStorage — no accounts, no cloud sync,…

All the apps that allow you to put stickys on a board to manage progress are missing the point. Tasks to do tasks dont necessarily lead you to accomplishing your goals. I built a tool with my team that makes users align all work to their goals. No way around it. We call them missions. Let me know your thoughts! I really struggle to keep my notes organised, and often can't make any sense of hand written notes after meetings. I did some experiments with Claude and ChatGPT where I blast random thoughts at them during a meeting or brainstorming session and then have them output a nice document that pulls it all together at the end. It worked incredibly well but it was a bit cumbersome to keep sending messages to the chat and telling the ai each time what to do. So I took the idea and built a tool, it makes it easy to throw random notes and voice recordings (images and document support on the way) and…

I got the idea of [mindmap.so](http://mindmap.so/) out of my own frustration of managing my personal notes in Notion and Miro in parallel. I have built it 3 months back on top of excalidraw, posted it in Reddit a couple of times, and never looked back (was using it only for personal use). Little did I know that the small and nimble tool that I created has crossed 2000+ users (was so surprised when I saw the dashboard last week). It was all organic and word of mouth . Having 2000+ users trusting a product is no easy feat. That’s when I thought may be I should put some more…

I aimed for it to be like a social media feed, but your own notes. Would appreciate your thoughts on how I could make it more user friendly and useful. It is free to download if you want to try it.
