For the last month or so I've been working on bewCloud, and today I'm making its source code public and open! Right now, the Dashboard (URLs + freeform notes), News (RSS/Atom/JSON feeds), and Contacts (CardDav) are working. If you have any suggestions, comments, or recommendations, I'd love to hear it. Thank you for your attention and kindness. I really appreciate it!

I've been working on this for some time now, starting with vm2, then deno-core for 2 years, and recently rewrote it on rusty_v8 with Claude's help. OpenWorkers lets you run untrusted JS in V8 isolates on your own infrastructure. Same DX as Cloudflare Workers, no vendor lock-in. What works today: fetch, KV, Postgres bindings, S3/R2, cron scheduling, crypto.subtle. Self-hosting is a single docker-compose file + Postgres. Would love feedback on the architecture and what feature you'd want next.

Last week SWYX nerd-sniped me into building an Open-source Dropbox. Here is Locker: the ultimate open-source Google Drive/box/Dropbox alternative - Provider agnostic (S3, R2, vercel blob, local) - BYOB (Bring your own bucket) - Virtual file system - QMD Search plugin

I created a 100% Open source Company-wide Self-hosted File Sharing Solution for Teams Recently, I wanted to share HD images and video files with my graphic designer. She’s exceptional at her craft but isn’t familiar with AWS S3 So, I got an idea and built this. This is a MVP for Serverless Postgres. 1/ It uses Fly.io[0], which can automatically pause your database after all connections are released (and start it again when new connections join). 2/ It uses Oriole[1], a Postgres extension with experimental support for S3 / Decoupled Storage[2]. 3/ It uses Tigris[3], Globally Distributed S3-Compatible Object Storage. Oriole will automatically backup the data to Tigris using background workers. I wouldn't recommend using this in production, but I think it's in a good spot to provoke some discussion and ideas. You can get it running…

S2 was on HN for our intro blog post a year ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42480105). S2 started out as a serverless API — think S3, but for streams. The idea of streams as a cloud storage primitive resonated with a lot of folks, but not having an open source option was a sticking point for adoption – especially from projects that were themselves open source! So we decided to build it: https://github.com/s2-streamstore/s2 s2-lite is MIT-licensed, written in Rust, and uses SlateDB (https://slatedb.io) as its storage engine. SlateDB is an…

Hi HN, I'm Adriano, one of the makers of Vaultrice. I'm excited (and a little nervous!) to share what we've been building. For years, we found ourselves in a frustrating loop: whenever we needed a simple real-time feature—like a "who's online" list, a collaborative app, or just sharing state between a marketing site and our main app — we'd end up spending days setting up the same stack or discarded to do it. Setting it up, it always involved wiring together a database, a WebSocket server, an API, and managing the connection state. It felt like massive overkill for what we were trying to…

I've decided to bite the bullet and release Bitbox.co and get some feedback. I've been coding for years and one of the things I constantly see companies do is write and rewrite a document storage system, so I decided to write one for them. Bitbox.co uses cloud storage (currently Azure) to store documents but can be coded to use any cloud service. Documents can be public or private and URLs to that document can be used directly in HTML. There are currently a list of WebAPIs for developers to use as a tool, or build an entire system around. This is an MVP and it's simple. Upload a file, get a…
