Hey everyone, I built a new daily puzzles site with all original formats that I'm releasing today called The Daily Baffle. This is the successor project to my simple puzzle Triword from last year. There's a mix of different puzzles, done in the style of a classic newspaper games page. I think you'll especially like the Pathword, but all of my friends have different favorites. Come find yours!

I’ve long thought that the Word of the Day was a wasted genre. The goal should be to give you words you can use; to enrich your understanding of words you already know; or at least to use words to tell you something neat about the world. This is a game I wrote over the last month and a bit. The effort allocation was pretty different from what I've done in the past. The game design snapped together very quickly: I had the initial idea, played a couple of games on a spreadsheet to get a feel for the idea, and made one change based on those plays. After that everything felt just right through multiple rounds of playtesting. I've been playing Wordle and remembered this puzzle game I used to play with my grandfather. It's inspired by the block puzzles in many newspapers but made to be shorter: just guess the nine letter word. So I made a quick thing to play with my family like we used to.
