I'm experimenting game mechanics that are usually seen on a typical grid, but transposed on an irregular one. This is a first game based on Minesweeper. The changes an irregular grid brings are that cells don't all have 8 neighbors. Some can have less, some can have more. So when you try and deduce if a tile has a mine, you have to pay closer attention at the number clues and which tiles neighbors it. My intention is to make a very classic game a bit more challenging & fun. I've also released a first version of Checkers/Draughts, and plan to test similar variants for Chess, Othello and…

I made a chess engine today, and made it fit within 2KB. I used a variant of MinMax called Negamax, with alpha beta pruning. For the board representation I have used a 120-cell "mailbox". I managed to squeeze in checkmate/stalemate in there, after trimming out some edge cases. I am a great fan of demoscene (computer art subculture) since middle school, and hence it was a ritual i had to perform. For estimating the Elo, I measured 240 automated games against Stockfish Elo levels (1320 to 1600) under fixed depth-5 and some constrained rules, using equal color distribution. Then converted…

This is a little game implemented over a week of tinkering and targeting Emacs. The point is both to have fun with this kind of simulations, and also explore the "functional core / imperative shell" approach to architecture. I also developed a tile and tile effect definition DSL, which makes this even easier to extend. From this point of view it's a success: easy testing, easy extension, Gameplay-wise the simulation is too simplistic, and needs input from people interested in this kind of toys. The original Micropolis/SimSity is the last time I built a virtual city.

I created a puzzle game after some recent years of hiatus from game development. It was a puzzle game where you have to assemble a randomized tiles. You can view the preview using eye icon on the top right side. You also can undo your previous step. I created this game using Unity because I am already familiar with it. If you encounter the tiles is not randomized, please try recreate the tile again, I don't exactly know why it's happenning. Thank you

I love word association games. Here's a playable wordplay game where you match opposite word tiles. After playtesting a lot of mechanics, I think opposites play really nicely with Mahjong solitaire. The current generation of frontier LLMs can't make puzzles that get much more interesting than hot-vs-big-vs-fast. New inferences keep circling a small pool of concepts unless the prompting has a way to get the LLM into new territories of language. Puzzlemaking needs graph traversals. I made 20 levels algorithmically because I work with a huge semantic graph with over 100M edges, built from…

I continue my experiment of transposing classic games onto an irregular grid. I've previously released variants of minesweeper and checkers. And now I'd like to share my variant of Chess. Chess can be a pretty punishing game, but I thought this was nevertheless a way to make it even more challenging by making it trickier to anticipate your opponent, even though both players still have the same information. From the playtests I've done, that challenge is pretty compelling. It also seems to be more fun at 2 people, where both players keep surprising one another.

Hello HN! After I got a great response on my first game, I wanted to share the second game I ever made. It's an infinite jumping game, but there are bombs to watch out for! It can be played both on desktop and mobile. It can be installed as a PWA too. If you enjoyed, please leave a star on the GitHub repository: https://github.com/shajidhasan/dotventure Thanks for taking a look. Years ago, whenever I wanted to build games, I'd always stop because I felt I needed to create original game assets but could never get it done. After making this game, I've realized that you…

Hi, I built Equatile, a logic-based puzzle game where you arrange number tiles on a grid to make every row and column equal their target values. It's built using Expo and is available for free on iOS, Android, and the Web. It's a game I've had in mind for almost 10 years now but never got to actually develop, until I came across Expo which made the process incredibly easy. I might open source the code on GitHub. I hope you enjoy playing it!

https://coffeegameonline.com/game/arch-rush-3d this game is heavily inspired from the viral hyper casual mobile Game. in which play runs in a certain direction until the screen is tap and direction changes, I love this Game very much for lot of hours, of never-ending levels and increasing difficulty The arc-rush is also based on the same functionality. Were you have to jump through floating platforms by jumping over them and each platform is placed zigzag towards the forward direction of the player. You have to wait until an arc is moving towards the right platform. One…
