Hey everyone, I built a simple React/Python app that takes screenshots of websites and converts them to clean HTML/Tailwind code. It uses GPT-4 Vision to generate the code, and DALL-E 3 to create placeholder images. To run it, all you need is an OpenAI key with GPT vision access. I’m quite pleased with how well it works most of the time. Sometimes, the image generations can be hilariously off. See here for a replica of Taylor Swift’s Instagram page: https://streamable.com/70gow1 I initially had a hard time getting it to work on full page screenshots. GPT4 would code…

Inspired by the design and UI/UX of apps like Notion, and utility of open-source apps like StackEdit, I decided to create a minimalistic, local-only WYSIWYG Markdown editor. Some features worth highlighting: - Monaco editor and Prettier integration for code snippets - Tables (apparently the holy grail of WYSIWYG editing) - Embeds (for CodePen, CodeSandbox and YouTube, most useful for HTML or JSON exports) - Accepts Markdown paste-in, and "exports"/generates HTML, Markdown and JSON outputs - Collaboration (with real-time awareness and initial commenting system, available only when…

During the hype of llama.ttf months ago, I was speculating the potential of WASM shaper for even crazier purpose, one that fitter to a font shaper's duty -- to synthesize font at runtime. This project as proof-of-concept implements a synthesizer that generates and rasterizes handwriting-style font, backed by a super-lightweight RNN model (~14MiB).

Hi everyone, I build some "online" converters as a side project in the last weeks. The difference to existing conversion websites is, that my converters don't upload your files. Everything happens in your browser on your device (with the help of a lot of great Open Source Javascript libraries). I think privacy is an essential feature for a service like this, so my converters also don't use google analytics or any other form of tracking (in fact they use no external resources at all). I started this because I ended up with some .heic files from my iPhone and had to use ImageMagick every time…

I built WebPtoPNG after getting frustrated with converters that throttle uploads or phone data; everything runs straight in the browser, and never asks for a signup.

Hi HN – Excited to share a beta for Minard, a new data visualization toolkit we've been working on that lets you generate publication-quality charts with simple natural language (throw away your matplotlib docs and rejoice!). Upload or import CSVs, Excel, and JSON, give it a spin, and please let us know what you think! (Long format data works best for now) For those curious, the stack is a simple Django app with HTMX/Alpine and all of the charts are specified and rendered as Vega (https://vega.github.io/vega/). Lots of LLM function calling under the hood as well.

I vibe-coded a speech-to-text tool for Wayland that works for me. You trigger it with a keybind, speak into your mic, and it transcribes using OpenAI Whisper or Google STT (local is coming), then either types it directly into your active text field or saves it to the clipboard. It uses PipeWire for audio capture and works signal-driven, so there's no background process running. Just on-demand transcription when you need it. I've tested it on Niri and it should work on Hyprland, though I haven't tested GNOME or KDE yet. This was a one day Rust project and probably has some bugs since I just…
