http://instantclick.io/ It seems the internet architecture won't bring us instant websites anytime soon. So here is a hack. I released this JS library last month (today is version 2.0 release, fixing v1.0's rough edges), it makes use of HTML5's pushState and preloading to make a website instant. It works like this: before clicking on a link, you'll hover over it. And there's a delay of 200-300 ms between these two events. InstantClick uses this delay to preload a page, when you click on a link it will display instantly in most case. (You can test on the website.) That's…

Hey everyone, I built a simple React/Python app that takes screenshots of websites and converts them to clean HTML/Tailwind code. It uses GPT-4 Vision to generate the code, and DALL-E 3 to create placeholder images. To run it, all you need is an OpenAI key with GPT vision access. I’m quite pleased with how well it works most of the time. Sometimes, the image generations can be hilariously off. See here for a replica of Taylor Swift’s Instagram page: https://streamable.com/70gow1 I initially had a hard time getting it to work on full page screenshots. GPT4 would code…

Hey HN, I recently found myself needing a quick way to preview HTML and SVG code without having to copy it into an IDE, save it, and then open it in a browser. ChatGPT's new canvas feature is great for generating code, but it doesn't provide a way to preview HTML directly. To solve this, I made a small bookmarklet that allows you to instantly preview HTML from your clipboard in a new tab. Just copy your HTML, click the bookmarklet, and it will render immediately. It's a simple tool, but it’s saved me a lot of repetitive steps, and I figured it might help others too. The bookmarklet code and…

Well, it's yet another screenshot-to-code tool. I use it daily. Of course, it sucks with complex designs, but it's still better than starting from scratch. It's a paid tool, but I've tried to be fair with the pricing at $9/month. However, I understand that times are tough. If you really want to keep using the tool and can't afford the $9, I get it. Just sign up and comment with your email, and I'll gift you three months of premium for free.
