Hello HN! It kept surprising me how much of a hassle it is to generate a PDF with decent HTML5 rendering from my SaaS apps. I tried several free libs and APIs but ended up with botched rendering a lot of times. So I set out to simplify this chore by creating an AWS hosted HTML to PDF conversion API that's based on Chrome. This API will allow a dev to just send the HTML to our API and get a PDF in response without having to worry about running and managing Chrome somewhere in their infra. Hey HN, solo dev here. After years of frustration with how LLMs handle complex documents, especially PDFs with tables, I decided to build a solution myself. My approach uses a Markdown conversion step to preserve the table structure, which seems to work surprisingly well for chunking. This little parser is the first public piece of a much larger, privacy-focused AI platform I'm building. I'm pretty much running on fumes financially, so any feedback, critique, or support is massively appreciated. Happy to answer any questions about the approach!

22+ years as a Software engineer/programmer. For a reason that only life can explain, in the last 8 years i went from Adobe Flash Specialist to owning a small solar installation business and a small electric and plumbing materials. o.O We had a problem every time that we had to resupply or shop for new goods. We built a Windows app to convert PDF tables to Excel. You just have to take a screenshot of the table. Why try yet another app when there's so many PDF to Excel converters? It's faster, easier to use and more accurate than other converters (including Excel's Power Query). I would be interested in hearing any feedback.
