Hey, Sam and the team from ElectricSQL here. PGlite is a WASM Postgres build packaged into a TypeScript/JavaScript client library, that enables you to run Postgres in the browser, Node.js and Bun, with no need to install any other dependencies. It's 3mb Gzipped, now has support for many Postgres extensions, including pgvector, and it has a reactive "live query" API. It's also fast, with CRUD style queries executing in under 0.3 ms, and larger, multi-row select queries occurring within a fraction of a single frame. PGlite started as an experimental project we shared on X, and the…

We've been hard at work for a few weeks and thought it's time for another update. In case you missed our first post, PostgresML is an end-to-end machine learning solution, running alongside your favorite database. This time we have more of a suite offering: project management, visibility into the datasets and the deployment pipeline decision making. Let us know what you think! Hey HN, I built pg-mcp, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for PostgreSQL that provides structured schema inspection and query execution for LLMs and agents. It's multi-tenant and runs over HTTP/SSE (not stdio) Features - Supports multiple database connections from multiple agents - Schema Introspection: Returns table structures, types, indexes and constraints; enriched with descriptions from pg_catalog. (for well documented databases) - Read-Only Queries: Controlled execution of queries via MCP. - EXPLAIN Tool: Helps smart agents optimize queries before execution. - Extension…

Hey everyone! I have created a product that relies on MongoDB for a document store but doesn't really need any of the distributed features to really justify having a hosted MongoDB or DocumentDB instance. Now that we're trying to turn this into a product, we're seeing that some companies have a little bit of resistance around managing yet another database. Most of our clients already have and manage PostgreSQL in one form or another. I knew that PostgreSQL already offered first class JSON support, but I didn't want to rewrite the application data layer from scratch if I could avoid it.…

Hey all, I'm the creator of @pg-nano/pg-parser. I'm using it in pg-nano[1] to statically analyze Postgres schemas spread across multiple SQL files for a couple of reasons: 1. Each CREATE statement needs to be in topological order, so pg-nano's dev command can execute them without issue. 2. pg-nano has a plugin system like Vite that allows SQL generation based on the parsed schema. Probably to the surprise of no one, working with an untyped AST feels like you're back in the days of JavaScript, because well... you are. Most of you know by now just how great TypeScript and static types in…

This is like 4 years old, but I’m braver now and ready to share stuff with this community. I’ve been a lurker for a while. I made this tool - it’s kind of like “explain” but it tells you about what locks would be required by the query. I was making it as part of a larger tool that would try to prevent deadlocks during migrations at my last company, I never finished it.
