I built Duck-UI, a web-based SQL editor that runs DuckDB entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. No backend required. The Problem: Every time I needed to query csv, parquet, or even to play with SQL, I had to either: (a) spin up a Jupyter notebook (b) use the CLI (c) upload to a hosted service. Friction at every step (TOO MUCH to load a csv or even to test some sql (study)... The Solution: DuckDB's WASM runtime lets us run SQL analysis client-side. Load CSV/JSON/Parquet files from disk or URL, write SQL, get results instantly. Data stays on your machine. What It Does: SQL editor…

I've been building a lot of landing pages and small sites lately, and i wanted analytics on them. Google analytics was the obvious first option, but i didn't want it for privacy reasons. Also, some privacy blockers block them. Plausible was the next best thing, but having a VPS for sites which that doesn't get too much traffic, felt too much. So i built Edgemetry. Its a worker, a bit of frontend, and a D1 database. Everything runs in Cloudflare's free tier. If you've got a site that doesn't get ton of traffic but you still wnat to see your visitors and their actions, give it a go.

    # TL;DR We built VeilStream, a drop-in, read-only PostgreSQL proxy that strips, masks, or anonymizes sensitive values as queries stream through. In less than two minutes, you can put a proxy in front of a PostgreSQL database, whether hosted on your laptop, Neon, Supabase, or a cloud provider, and the user is able to start configuring filter rules. The use cases we're trying to solve are: - Production-like data in development environments - Improve incident handling by masking all data that is not relevant - Share a subset of your data - Protecting data being shipped into a data lake - Safe…

I created a web page to compare different analytical databases (both self-managed and services, open-source and proprietary) on a realistic dataset. It contains 20+ databases, each with installation and data loading scripts. And they can be compared to each other on a set of 43 queries, by data load time or by storage size. There are switches to select different types of databases for comparison - for example, only MySQL compatible or PostgreSQL compatible. If you play with the switches, many interesting details will be uncovered. Full description:…

Hi folks.. Co-founder and Head of Produck at MotherDuck. We're building a new type of analytics data platform based on an exciting open source project DuckDB! We just launched today, so please head over to our website and request an invite[0]! When we first started MotherDuck a little over a year ago, we realized that the modern data platforms like BigQuery and Snowflake are of exceptional quality. They're also very mature, packing diverse set of features across a variety of use cases. So it doesn't seem like a good idea to go and compete with them... But then we found DuckDB. DuckDB changes…

I'm building a privacy focused analytics tool, using WebAssembly and DuckDB. You can upload your files (CSV, JSON and Parquet), and interact with them as where they a SQL Server. Your data never leaves your computer, however I do track page views and visitors using Plausible. The next steps are to add forecasting and segmentation, as well as some data visualisation capabilities. I would love to hear your opinion. I got tired of the overhead required to run even a simple data analysis - cloud setup, ETL pipelines, orchestration, cost monitoring - so I built a fully local data-stack/IDE where I can write SQL/Py, run it, see results, and iterate quickly and interactively. You get data lake like catalog, zero-ETL, lineage, versioning, and analytics running entirely on your machine. You can import from a database, webpage, CSV, etc. and query in natural language or do your own work in SQL/Pyspark. Connect to local models like Gemma or cloud LLMs like Claude for querying and analysis. You…

Hello Everyone! We built SQLFlow as a lightweight stream processing engine. We leverage DuckDB as the stream processing engine, which gives SQLFlow the ability to process 10's of thousands of messages a second using ~250MiB of memory! DuckDB also supports a rich ecosystem of sinks and connectors! https://sql-flow.com/docs/category/tutorials/ https://github.com/turbolytics/sql-flow We were tired of running JVM's for simple stream processing, and also of bespoke one off stream processors I would love your feedback, criticisms and/or…

I always wanted a data exploration tool that runs in my browser and just works. Without any infra or privacy concerns (DuckDB UI came quite close). Features: - Data Notebooks - SQL cells work like DBT models (they materialize to views) -…
